how to take off side carpet?

I am replacing my carpet with TFent carpet kit and I cant seem to take the side piece off by the vent because there is a white piece that blocking it from coming out. does anyone know to move the white piece so I can take off the vent that's on the carpet?

you need to remove the screw inside the vent

time to break out those scissors and cut it out.... then you have to glue in the new carpet around it...... i heard its a bit of a PITA to install those carpet kits. Im having mine done soon too so not sure how its going to go.......

That's actually a good idea but then I'll probably cant put it back on. I know someone in here has to know how....

Turn The a/c unit to defrost and the white part retracts . There's a good DIY thread to removing and installing those molded carpet somewhere. Good luck!

I have taken off dozens now its a PITA but once you remove the only screw you pull real hard downward at an angle away from the A/C mech.

it will come out without breaking it. its scary to pull that hard but I have done it plenty of times.

just be careful.

now putting it back on is the reverse you need to push it back in the same angle you pulled it out with.
then wiggle it till the square lines up with the A/C blower unit.

to tell you the truth this side is easier than the driverside for some reason.
