How to remove Zanardi shift boot?

Does anyone know how the Zanardi shift boot is attached to the knob? There isn't a ring like in the regular knob and I don't want to damage it by pulling without knowing how it is attached.

I can start unscrewing the knob but the boot grips the bottom of it quite strongly and I can't rotate it much. The service manual doesn't offer any insights.

Any tips appreciated.

Hi Gansan,

Had one more thought after my PM. If you remove the console, raise it up so you can see under the boot, and confirm how it is fixed to the knob.

Probably Zanardy attaches the same way... so yes it is a good idea to raise the console up

Good idea. I'll try that and when I do find out the answer, I'm going to post it here for future owners.

You were both absolutely right. When I lifted the center console panel, there was a zip tie that held the boot. Once I cut that, it was easy to peel the boot away.

Thanks for the help, everyone!
