I posted the follwing question on the DIY forum without any responses. Anyone here know the answer?

>>I know, and yes, I did a search. Anyone have a picture of the correct way to install the bra snaps? I'm not clear where the crush washer goes -on top of or behind the aluminum fender tab, and which direction the crush washer should be facing.

TIA

Here are the installation instructions. If you need the picture give me a fax number and I will fax you the directions (which include drawings that give you the proper orientation for the fender well nut, washer and snap screw.)

I would scan it but either my scanner is broken or I can't figure out how to operate it.

Installation:

1. Open the hood.

2. Locate the plastic clip on the front fender well. Using a Phillips screwdriver, press the center button of the clip until it "clicks" and becomes loose. Remove the plastic clip, then clean the area around the hole. (Do not discard the plastic clip. It can be reinstalled if the mask is removed)

For the best access to the fender well, turn the wheels in the direction opposite the side you are working on.

3. Pull the inner fender away, and press a fender well nut (supplied) into the hole in the fender flange. (be carful you don't push it all the way through the hole)

4. With its washer in place, (the washer goes between the inner liner and the snap-screw) tighten a snap-screw into the fender well nut securely. When tightening the snap-screw, be careful not to push the nut through the hole. As it tightens, it will collapse and seal the hole and provide the "seat" for the snap-screw. Don't over tighten it or you will pull it out of the hole!!

Repeat on the other side

Thanks Norm. Turns out I had installed it as per your instructions, but must not have tightened it enough which caused it to pull out. I'll try it again.

Thanks again.

Hey Dave, be sure these are in tight...I had one work loose during a HPDE and the bra (with the snap on it) flapped around and scratched the fender lip:frown:

I hear ya' Lucky for me the snap pulled out when I went to put the bra on - so I went out braless.

FYI, I'm having a clearbra (training bra) installed in the next two weeks. I finally found a guy in south county that I'm comfortable with. The heavy factory bra will be used only for extended road trips (as if...). Details to follow.

Over time, with multiple use (snapping it in and pulling), it will loosen the fender hole, and the supplied fender well nut will not be able to grip without being pulled out of the fender. Had it happen on both sides. I used a larger washer behind the liner - and it wasn't easy but has worked. YMMV.
