I saw this thread yesterday when it first came out and I wanted to post but refrained.

I did vote though ;)

Put me in the over $40k club too :frown:

I think we should all go back and edit our posts with justification er i mean pictures of said NSX's :) If u got it flaunt it!

<SNIP>That "Group buys/vendors" and "parts for sale" sections are where satan lives. Everytime I tell myself not to click, I do. If I have no time to check anything on prime, the "for sale" section MUST BE CHECKED even if it is 3:00 am, and I was just going to the bathroom.

4) Everytime I think I am done someone comes out with some new gizmo that I didn't know I needed. SOS, Downforce, and Procar are satan's little helpers. I know this for fact.

5) What is a "group buy"? It is the excuse you needed to justify the horrible act you are about to commit. It is not about spending money, but about "saving money". You must do it now, so you can SAVE MONEY!!!

+1 There are so many mods available that it becomes an addiction.

I am trying to refrain as much as possible...

DC Sports Headers $1500 including install and new o2 sensors
PowerSlot rotor kit with pads and S/S lines $600 (sitting in the garage)
ProSpeed ECU Tune with Dyno runs and spare ECU $650
Zetoolbox V3 Sub with speaker plates $750
USA Spec IPOD adapter $85 (Amazon)

Luckily, My exhaust and wheels were on the car when I bought it.

I think I have been pretty good so far...Still under $5K:smile:

I literally made this list yesterday what a coincidence:smile:

Its a 92

All I know is cost less than driving a GT3 or 997TT off the showroom floor!!!!

Over $40k worth of modifications, Between My 14k and the previous owner David Ropollo's 26k, I don't even want to add installation and shipping on all this stuff. I'd rather just not know... worth every penny.

Its set up to be street/show car more then anything, full interior and AC, power everything, stereo navigation, every thing still on.

List of the $14,500 I spent....

$1,900 Tein RE suspension

$3,000 Pearl Clear coat over original GPW
$2,200 02 OEM HID head lights

$400 Carbon Side vents
$400 Carbon Pillars
$400 Foot well sub
$400 CF center console
$200 SOS polished collant bottle
$100 Zenardi edition floor mats

I'ts all worth it when I'm driving in the city I actually hear, wow!, sick!, holy shit!, NSX!, and young kids glue their heads to their parents minivan windows and scream Gran tourismo! its really nice to see kids flip out.

@ 2780lbs - 275rwhp/315bhp Mid 12's 1/4's and handling on par if not better than a 911 TT & Gallardo
Would not trade it for anything under $200k

Mod cost before becoming friends with evof575gtc, scorp965, Vancehu:

-Cantrell AIS+Uni Filter=$350
-Used OEM 94~97 Solaris silver wheels + complete refinishing $1000
-Grand Total=$1350 (time span of 3 years:eek:)

I still have the pic of my NSX from the first day that I meet John.

Offtopic:
One of the question I dislike the most is when another NSX owner ask me how much you spent on mods. If you be honest and tell them, they might get bent out of shape be a smartass and start to question you and ask you to prove it. It happen to me once before at a meet. It wasn't even worth my time.

Now I just say enough or say I don't remember. With a list I just made, at very least it will save me a lot of time when I come across someone with real genuine interest. I can just point them to read this thread.

After meeting these 3, lets just say the list of mods kinda grew longer , always wanted the mods, but jumping across require some push from behind, nothing but joy, glad I did the mods

Engine:
Comptech Supercharger
GTone V5.1 F1 exhaust
Comptech Headers ($1699 before tax and not including labor, yes, I could do better, but no choice at the time when everything came off and the other header I bought didn't fit)
Gruppe M Carbon Kelvar Intake

Exterior conversion (OEM parts for everything with exception of R-Hood, Wing, Diffuser):
Headligthts
HID
Sideskirts
Rear tail lights
Rear valence
Front bumper
Procar R Hood
Downforce wing
Mode4 diffuser
Bumper support
Brackets
countless other items

Suspension and Interior:
Used OEM 04 wheels + powdercoating
Bilstein Shocks
Tein Springs
NRG Quick release
Momo steering wheel
Hub lock
Pager Alarm
shift knob, boot, and plate

Minor items:
NGK Iridium spark plugs
USspec auxiliary adaptor

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Not on the car and I still have them:
Apexi intake+top box
Cantrel AIS + Uni Filter
Odyssey PC545 lightweight battery (dead, not rechargeable)
NSX-R sway bars
Ciistom wheel adaptors from wheeladaptor.com
Rays Lightweight lugnut for CE28N $150
Muteki Lightweight Lug Nuts $60 (over torqued a few Rays, led to this purchase)
Raizin HVS
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Sold and recovered good portion of cost (not added to the cost of parts or mod):
Taitec GTLW exhaust
Volk CE28N wheels
H&R wheel adators
OEM Solaris Silver wheels

Bought not work and returned (not added to the cost of parts or mod):
Cantrell Headers

Totol in parts alone=$30k, not sure if we are suppose to include labor, shipping, etc, which will be significant amount added on top of parts cost and represent a huge portion of the total cost of mod, because some are very labor intensive mod, I don't skim on quality and pay top dollar to the shop I used and trust)

Conversion labor (painting front bumper, hood, sideskirts, rear valance, blend, headlight conversion ablor=$4k)

Installation for parts (Ex, CTSC+dyno $1600, Headers $600, shocks $150, springs $300, exhaust $100x2, AIS $100, etc............

Total in mod related cost to this point = greater than $37,250, most likely in $40k club if I want to be pin point accurate.

Most challenging part is the wait and work, everytime there a mod, there is wait, work, and making a trip. It just doesn't happen over night. I have no problem caughing up the cost again if I have to build another one, but to do all the work again, hell........no.

Maintenance (TB/WP, 02 Sensor, CV boot, etc), tires, and other misc cost are not being considered.

I like to think mod cost for my NSX as same as what Ferrari owner's pay for maintenance/repair cost for 5~10years. Overall absolute no regrets if I look on the bright sides. Still way more fun than any thing I can get at $100k or less. For cost of a brand new 997S, what I got is great deal.

I have that strange habit of writing down all my expenses.
That way I always know why I always have so much month left at the end of my money
You are not alone, that is a great habbit, but please becaseful and keep them away from wife or girlfriends.

I am very organized person, not only I have each and every single receipts for labor and 95% of parts (parts bought from other forum member had no receipts). I also organize them by categories in two separate binders.

Imagine the list for Danny's 1000hp NSX!!!
That will be mother of all lists. My bet is approximately all the item listed posted by everyone on this thread so far combined. Actually that might just be close:eek:

turbo2go

In turbo2go's reply about the "Satan" part it's true. Here is my detailed analysis. Whilst Chris @ SOS seems like the good conscious guy on your shoulder and Mark from Dali seems like the bad conscious guy on the other shoulder, in fact they are known as MANÓ & FENE.

22749660.jpg

MANÓ
is a lesser known term for a devil of the underworld was "mano" which also represented in Hungarian the dwarfs of the underworld, but also at times troublesome devils.

FENE isa lesser understood and known names and titles of various demons and devils are often remembered in Hungarian as part of curses.

I too have become snared in the underworld of after-market parts and spoken in the devils own tongue. Some members become completely taken by MANÓ & FENE they utter incomprehensible gibberish like; NA1 NA2, Taitec, Brembo, Cantrell, and the holy grail of NSXdevilspeak:...."Comptech Sports NSX Supercharger Package ."

These completely devoted "Devilmods," (AKA: NSX Owners) worship the NSXdevilgods by quietly making their devotion known by clicking on the devils playground, (AKA: NSX Prime marketplace.) and selecting their contribution amount for the "Cause."

Never mind that the mortgage, bills and other essential daily living things have been neglected. The Devilmods march on chanting and clicking their way to an unobtainable goal of supreme-bitchin'ass NSX.

Example:

Normal person to person communication.

Person #1-"Hi, how are you?"
Person #2-"Fine, good to see you."

Devilmods.

Devilmod #1-"OEM Comptech JDM Nav pod H&R SSR widebody."
Devilmod #2-"Really, Shine GT Enkie Volk Eibach and Pro-Drive
GC-06."

See what I mean? If you can understand some of the Devilmodspaeak above you too are in danger of becoming a member of the Mod squad.

Step away from the keyboard now.......Least you wind up at Satan's lair, (AKA:Twin Ring Motegi.)

I know, that's why I don't bother post mine. Since Vance and Jason doing the favor already. I think your list and Danny's 10K HP are out of this world.
Modding is addicting...

lol, I'm almost done with my, just two more things to do: paint the head lights white, and JDM side markers.

If I'm really up to it, I may do the interior carpeting to type R style fabric, and the seat cover. I'll do however, really dig the NA1 type R's dash cover.

lol, keep saying that to yourself that you are almost done.
I like the NA1 dash too... I know someone can do that though.
My JDM front fenders and rear 1/4 panels are almost here...:)
The seats are my next items....

between me and the previous owner its up there, I picked the 10k as thats what I personally invested so far, if I included kenji's investments I am sure it would be the top lol, I am sure I will make 15+ in the next year though:biggrin: shits addicting and I havent even gotten boost yet

no seriously. My list of mods is within my link in my sig. It's easily over $15k including the rebuilt tranny and engine. I don't even want to think about it. That's a lot of friggen money

Especially for me as a "lightweight" spender (or the better term is 'earner' assuming I can use that word).

I guess it shows the love for the NSX that many will shell over 25-50% or more in mods over the value of the car (current value that is).

Any pics of the Ti Type S console? I've never even heard of this...
They are in my photo gallery. Basically, same as the Zanardi edition.

Comptech Headers
Comptech Muffler
Comptech Oil Pump
Comptech PG II Clutch & Flywheel
Comptech Non-Complaince Beam & Toe Links
Comptech 4.55 R & P
Comptech Sway Bars
Short Gears
StopTech Rotors
SS Bake Lines
HKS Hiper Max II Coil Overs

All of these items were on the car when I purchased it. I didn’t pay one penny more than a stock 93 was going for back then. This was a huge savings in my opinion.

I proceeded to add the following:
Dali Single Scoop Hood
Dali Air Deflectors
Steve’s 6000k HID kit
Leatherseat.com seat covers
Gruppe N Gear Shift Knob
Volk GT-C 18/19
Momo Steering Wheel with Hub and Carbon Buttons for Cruise Control
Zanardi Mats
Alpine MP3 Changer
Tinted Windows
NOS System with Bottle Opener, Heater, Window Switch and Gauges
Air Horns
European Fog Lights
LED Light All Around
DF Carbon License Plate Bezel
Injen Cold Air Intake

I haven't totalled it all up in a while, but the price to duplicate would be between $25-$30k with labor.

I spent less than some and more than others

It's all about living up to the quote in my signature below
