How many miles do you have so far? How do you keep from constantly worrying about it? How good of a daily driver is it?

I'm almost thinking of getting something else just because I think it'd be a better daily driver.. Talk me out of it!

I bought my current 93 NSX two years ago with 70,000 miles on the clock. It now has close to 155,000 miles. It most certainly is an extremely reliable daily driver. Nothing has broken on the car since I've owned it. In fact the original clutch lasted until 130,000 miles. Things that have been replaced such as timing belt, clutch master and slave cylinders etc.. were all replaced due to their age and following normal service intervals. I drive the car every day, rain or shine and it even sees the track a few times a year.

The paint and interior still look fantastic. People are shocked when they ask about the car and find out its age and mileage. There has never been a better built car in the known universe.

I agree, probably the best built and most reliable car on Earth, and certainly the best built exotic sports car. How many Ferrari's, Lambo's, even Porsche's do you see with those kind of miles with little or NO problems???

You can take 20 Ferraris and Lambos and the combined mileage wouldn't be close to my 155,000.

Porsches don't count, they are mass produced 30 year old shit boxes that are as common as Crown Victorias.

My 1991 has 140k on it. (I bought it with over 90k)

I use it as my daily driver in the Spring/Summer/Fall (I garage it for the Michigan winters).

Couldn't be happier. :)

My daily assault vehicle is my 91 NSX at my going rate i put about 10k miles on it a year, and cycle between that and my Super Exotic Dented 1990 CRX Si  Its a very daily driver friendly vehicle, unless your scared of getting dents that is. If you are really hyper sensitive and afraid to leave it alone at your local Grocery Mart then maybe its not such a good idea. Otherwise
its about as daily drivable as my Civic, thats my humble opinion

Hello. There are quite a few threads about this, so you may want to search for them. As far as a daily driver, you will find out soon that the NSX is fine for a daily driver. I have over 105,540 miles on my 1994 NSX, and over 123,502 miles on my 1991 NSX. Just maintain the cars and you will have no worries. Try and cheap out, and you will regret it.

That's a very ignorant statement:rolleyes:

Those shit boxes as you so eloquently put it( TT's GT'3,GT2), will hand a NSX it's ass in every category.

Add me to the list of daily drivers. Had it 4 1/2 years, 52K on it when I bought it, just hit 115K. The usual '92 issues have come up, and a snap ring transmission. But its been awesome. It will not be a daily driver for much longer I think. But have a hard time thinking of not driving it everyday. When I go a week without driving it, like gone on vacation, can't wait to get back to drive it. I believe cars should be driven. Yes it is a relatively rare car, and I plan on holding onto it like forever. I would say unless it is absolutley mint/original with very low miles (like collector quality someday) drive it!

Mine is my daily driver. Bought it almost 4 years ago with 24,000 miles on it I now have 76,000 miles on it. Very few problems and I enjoy going to work with ite every day. I'm in sales so I drive around quite a bit. It still looks great. I also track it about 2-3 times per year.

Daily driver?, Reliable?...
This is a prime member who posted thi story in early 2005.
I really enjoyed this story.

Here is my story: I haved worked at an Acura Dealer for last 16 years my nsx is the first one we sold in 91 the guy that bought the car is a doctor , he serviced the car religously at our store, and the reason he drove so many miles is the fact that he had two practices about 75 miles apart so he was in for service frequently, and for the most part he came to me for service. so last July he came in for his last service, jokingly I told him that he needed to dump the car and I would give him $2500 cash right now, we laughed about it and he was on his way, at this time he had about 335,000 miles and the car was hurting almost every seal was leaking from the engine, the oil was leaking so bad that you couldnot drive more than 3-4 miles without a trail of blue smoke from the back of the car, the abs light was on the clutch was toast, a/c compressor siezed, antenna stuck up driver window would barely close, the paint on the roof faded out, front bumper was 1/4 of inch lower because he rear ended someone the left rear wheel was different than the other three because he had a flat tire and drove the car in on the bare wheel which was ground down to the size of a 12 inch wheel, when the tire came apart tore the left rear 1/4 panel and the left side of the car 2 inch wide scratch down the side of the car. That is the majority of the problems with the car. he decided at about 285,000 miles that he was going to do the least amount of repairs possible and drive the car till it stopped. I guess things change because about 2 weeks after his july visit his car was towed in with a dead battery and blown main fuse, he had sold his practices and house and was moving to another state when the shipper came to pick up his cars the nsx was dead and the guy jumped the car backwards and blew the fuse, so he leaves the car behind. The doctor now needs to get rid of the car quickly as he doesnot have time to arrange another shipper. So he asked me if I was Still interested in his car, I explained to him that I really couldnot afford it as I have 3 kids 1 in college and 2 soon to follow but I was curious so I asked him what he wanted for it and he said make an offer, I did and he accepted and here we are now the car is about 90% back together and i drive it everyday my current odometer is 340425 miles. That's my story

There are photos to back it up!

I think you need to apply Internet Filter #1 to that story.
(Internet Filter #1 simply states: 99.9% of anything posted on message boards is pure unadulterated bullshit.

The first sentence of the story states "I haved worked at an Acura Dealer for last 16 years.......... he serviced the car religously at our store"

Then why was it a problem infested, oil seeping shitbox?

WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!!!! (The sound of the bullshit detector going off)

NSX is reliable for daily driving, but the road conditions and snow in Minnesota only allow me to get it out on the weekends. Plus I worry about parking issues and getting door dings.

I drive a TSX everyday. Sucks going from one car to the other because of the difference in clutch feel and gear box.

Good Luck.

OK, where are the so called photos of this 300K plus NSX that this guy has???

The reason you don’t want the Carrera 3.2 to count is because you know it’s reliability is legendry and it’s a fine daily driver.
I’m sure you were not serious when you made your statement but just for the record:
The 911 is considered by most car enthusiasts to be a fine piece of design and engineering. As for being mass produced. It’s not Porsche’s fault that even though they were producing an expensive sports car the public liked it so much they bought a lot of them.

Patrick

I was dead serious. They're overhyped, ugly, and as common as pick-up trucks at the Daytona 500. I also have personal reasons for shunning German cars but that's not a topic of discussion for here.

Your reasoning could apply to a LOT of cars. Maybe the "almighty" NSX is overhyped as well? It has been in production for ONLY 15 years with no real makeover with a price tag of $89k:rolleyes:

Anyways, to get back on topic, I personally don't believe that the NSX makes a great daily. Reliable and comfortable yes. But convienent? you have limited cabin space/trunk space/head + leg room and the stock stereo system isn't all that great.

If you want a awesome daily that is well rounded in performance and comfort, look elsewhere like the 911's ( yes I said it) or the E46 M3's. They have much more interior cabin space with performance that is equal or near equal to that of an NSX (3.2).

just my 0.02
