How many miles does the original stock clutch last?

I'm looking at buying an NSX, but the seller says they're replacing the clutch right now. The car has 40k miles in it. Is that too soon?

Depends on how it has been used/abused. If you want to take part in the traffic lights Grand Prix every day then any clutch will wear quicker. I've heard of cars with 100,000 miles and the original clutch.

Just trying to figure out the previous owner's driving habits. So if you drive normal..not necessarily babying it, but not doing quarter mile runs at every stop..how long should it last?

Typical NSX OEM clutch life is 30-50K miles. I would say the clutch has had a normal life. Not saying they cannot go 70-100K miles, but that is not typical. In your case the more important question is what type are they replacing it with?
