how long does it take the do not call list to kick in?

I just opened a new office and had 4 phone lines installed. Literally within 30 seconds of the Verizon guy walking out the door, I got a telemarketing call. We get probably 12-15 a day now and it's been three weeks since I added all our numbers to the national DNC registry. Do these telemarketers update their DNC lists once a month? It's really getting aggrivating.

That was me, I was just calling to let you know you'd been selected to receive a free set of steak knives made from billet aluminum in appreciation for the many shiny parts in my engine bay.

I quote this from their website
"The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free. Your registration will be effective for five years."
So I guess it takes up to 31 days

I'm not positive, but I dont think businesses can be included on the "do not call list".
I get more telemarketers than customers this time of the year.
My company relies on telemarketing to grow, so I dont mind that much. Just say no thanks and hang up, or if Im in the mood I might end up listening and finding out they are selling something I need.

I wish I could reach through the phone and slap these telemarketers. And what's the deal with only being on the list for 5 years? it should be permanent. In fact, this option should be given when contracting new service.

maybe it's not permanent since someone else may eventually have that number and *cough* might want telemarketing calls.

well it should be permanent as long as the number is registered to the same person.
