I just ordered a new JBT BBK for all four wheels and was thinking of installing it myself. I was wondering if anyone who has done a BBK install could let me know how difficult the install is or give me some helpful hints. Thanks.

Comptech and Stoptech both have their install manuals online for download. I suppose reading those will give you a good general idea. The JBT Chinese site is nice but where can I get more information about their brakes in English? Where did you order them from and what was the cost? Curious minds want to know. :)

I can't fathom that it would be all that hard. You're just replacing calipers, rotors, pads, etc. The only thing that might be hard to it is bleeding the system (like the ABS) afterwards.

If you've got decent wrenchmanship skills, I'd not hesitate to tackle it.

And it's not a critical system to boot so if you fuck something up and the brakes fail on the highway it's no biggie.

If you realy feel not confident, you can always do the BBK install in different parts.
So you can remove the caliper the first week, then drive around for a week, replace the rotor the next week, put the new calipers on the 3th week and so on. No downtime!

If you do it this way you can really appreciate the difference the kit makes after the kit has been installed completely

Thanks for the links to Comptech and Stoptech. I should be able to handle it no problem, I hope:redface:. The JBT BBK that I ordered is a 6 piston front and 4 piston rear with e-brake. There is also a front four piston kit available. The price is 3200 for the 6 piston front and 2400 for the four piston rear with e-brake. I am not sure of the price on the four piston front. I bought my kit from BRS-Auto Designwww.brs-autodesign.com. If you are interested in this kit you can email Erwin at
[email protected]. These are the same brakes that BRS runs on their time attack/drift RX-7. I should have the kit in about one month and will post up some pics and reviews after install.
