Just curious. Being in Virginia Beach, the closest to me is 4 hours. I'm debating on going so that I may go to a drivers school but it's just rather far. I'm wondering how far some of you go to go to a track.

Going to Pahrump outside of Las Vegas takes me over 6 hours. (Not a problem, since I end up staying an extra day or so in Las Vegas to make it worth my while.) The drive home from Willow Springs took about 3.5 - 4 hours. Nothing else worth driving out for is closer.

We need something closer to San Diego. :(

Leaving after work tomorrow (Friday) for Road Atlanta, about 4.5 hours away. Should get to Donymo's house around midnight if all goes well.

About 75 minutes from VIR, and about 4 hours from Roebling. Actually taking a day off to do Barber (7.5 hrs) in April.

And of course, across the country for three different NSXPO's:D

I drove 5.5 for NSXPO in Dallas/Ft. Worth for the track sessions. I have wanted to go again, but man it is a long way! Plus I have nowhere around here to get a tech inspection and I would HATE to go all that way and not pass for something silly..

This is one of the advantages of living in the Midwest.

Approximate driving time from downtown Chicago:

GingerMan (MI) 1.5 hours
Blackhawk Farms (IL) 1.5 hours
Road America (WI) 2.0 hours
Grattan (MI) 3.5 hours
Indianapolis Raceway Park (IN) 3.5 hours
Putnam Park (IN) 3.5 hours
Gateway International (IL) 4.0 hours
Michigan International (MI) 4.0 hours
Waterford Hills (MI) 4.5 hours
Mid-Ohio (OH) 6.0 hours
Nelson Ledges (OH) 6.0 hours

I've also driven to some that are further than these...

Let's see:

Hallett: 45 minutes away.
TRP: 20 minutes away
MSR: 4.5 hours away
TWS: 4.5 hours away

Farthest I've driven is to Mid-Ohio. That was about 16 hours.

Laguna Seca: 8 miles. :D

I live in San Jose, California.

Thunderhill - 3.5 hours
Laguna Seca - 1.75 hours
Sears Point - 1.75 hours
Buttonwillow - 3.25 hours

Those hours are probably including me driving 80-90mph on HW5.

I have driven to Willow Springs and to Las Vegas from San Jose in the NSX as well.

Here in Europe our club events are sometimes more than 10 hours away from me (Driving time with NSX on trailer, but I wouldn't be much faster with the NSX alone because of the speed limits in France or Italy).

e.g.: Paul Ricard is about 560 miles.

I have driven as much as 22+ hrs to go to Willow Springs or Thunderhill or Infineon. I have been to Motorsport Ranch (9 hrs) and Texas World Speedway (11 hrs). The Phoenix tracks are over 16 hrs away as is VIrginia International (next weekend). etc. etc. etc.

You've never been to Heartland Park? Too close? ;)

This will be my first year at the track.
I will be attending the events at the following tracks, and this is what the mapquest tells me:

New Hampshire International Speedway: 1:45
Lime Rock: 3:10
Pocono: 5:30
Watkins Glen: 6:30

Lime Rock 90 minutes
New Hampshire 3 1/2 hours
Watkins Glen 4 hours
Road America 2 days
Texas Motor Speedway 3 days
Infineon 5 1/2 hours

Since you live in NY, would you tell me how you manage Infineon in 5 1/2 hours.

I have found no links for events at Heartland (Topeka) or Mid-America (Council Bluffs).
BMW CCA is always a good place to start. I found the following events on their national website and on their individual chapter websites:

Heartland Park:
April 24-25 Greater Plains Region PCA
August 20-22 Kansas City Chapter BMW CCA
August 22-23 Iowa Chapter BMW CCA

Mid-America:
last weekend (sorry!) - Missouri Valley Chapter BMW CCA
June 5-6 Greater Plains Region PCA
June 12-13 Iowa Chapter BMW CCA

Gateway International (just outside St. Louis):
April 2-4 Gateway Chapter PCA
June 12-13 St. Louis Chapter BMW CCA

Yeah I REALLY want to get into it... just thought maybe I was gonna be crazy for driving so far... beating the living balls outta the car.. and then driving back.

I used to drive to the drag strip with my civic... then I broke the axles one day without any spares..

boy was that fun.

VIR and Summit Point are two road tracks fairly close to you.
Summit Point is about 40 miles west of Washington, DC and VIR is in or around Danville, NC.
Trackmasters will be at Summit Point 4/19-20 and there will be a few NSX's from the northeast regfion attending. Go to www.trackmasters.com for more info.
