How did you get your wheels home?

I am about to make a purchase and the car has aftermarket wheels. How is the best way for me to get the factory wheels back to my state. Since I will fly to pickup the car, but have not decided to drive or transport. If I transport the car will the carrier take the wheels for a little extra? If I drive the car, I don't really have a way of getting the wheels to a delivery company (like fedex).

Should I drive the car or transport (your opinion). I have read people saying what fun they had driving their purchase home. The mileage is 730 miles and the car has 25k. Should I put the miles on it?

I just drove mine 2200 miles homes and loved every minute of it. I put a bra on it to protect the front end from bugs and rocks. I'm sure the Seller has a vehicle that you can use to take the factorys to UPS?

Talk to the seller of the nsx. Maybe he can take care of shipping the wheels back to your state for you. Also, Definitely take the 730 mile drive back if you can. As long as the nsx is in good mechanical shape and up to date on its maintenance.

Where could I quickly get a bra for it, the car is in cleveland OH.

Drove mine 2600 miles in 3 days. Best drive of my life. It was great. Car was covered in mud, dirt and bugs at the end of it. I loved it. It was probably never that dirty ever.

Drive it. You'll love it. I've put almost 10,000 miles on mine since April.

Drive it..

I drove from Louisiana to Virginia Beach....

It really was EXTREMELY memorable... Good stories..

you enjoy the new looks, the sound of the engine... yummm..

drive!!!

Well the weather is not looking good for driving the car so i guess i will have to transport. Thinking of sending it FEDEX.

I could still use the weight of a factory wheel with tire if anyone knows what it is.

Fed-Ex critical care is a great transport solution. The buyer of my last one used them and they were absolutely first class. I'm driving my new one 1,100 miles home this weekend, rain or shine.

Don't be afraid to drive the car! That's the reason you are buying it. The stock wheels fit in the car, just bring towels to cover them up so they don't get the car dirty. Three in the cabin and one in the trunk. (Drove mine from S Carolina to Florida) and brought my wheels home with NO issues. Good Luck.

Here's a link on how to do it in the FAQ, PM me if you have ??s

Drive the car! I drove from Ohio to S. Florida in 17 hours and loved it!! It is a very comfortable car on a long drive and You will get to know it well. It is the start of a new relationship with a very well built piece of machinery, embrace it and enjoy!

Put 1 wheel in the trunk, and stack the rest on the passangers seat

Where in Cleveland did you buy it? Private party or the only dealership in the area on Brookpark road next to all the porn shops

Thanks, danny but I really dont want to do that to her. Making her a transport the wheels is not a good start to a long relationship.

I would put the wheels in the car and drive to the first UPS store I could find and ship them UPS Ground and enjoy the rest of the drive home and take the opportunity to get used to my new car.

I drove 1100 miles from Denver to San Diego and enjoyed it very much. Good memories were made and I'll remember the trip for the rest of my life. Don't miss out on this one and you will save money.

Dont worry about a few bugs and rock chips, your going to get them sooner or later, drive the car...thats what it was designed for....not as cargo!

700 some miles is cake in an NSX. I heard greyhound charges reasonable fees, you might want to check on.

Best of luck.

I drive from Denver to LA back and forth on a regular basis.

drive it home.. 700 miles isn't far at all.. it's probably a good 12 trip with some high speed fun.. =)..

Not sure I would stack 3 ON the passenger seat...put at least one behind the passenger seat (after moving it all the way forward to allow for such)...and maybe put the 2 on the passenger seat vertical (next to each other). Regardless, a full set of wheels with tires can be transported in the NSX so wheels without tires is really not a problem.

If you're shipping, below is how 1010tires.com says they package rims only or rims + tires on their shipping page. I would take them to a packaging and shipping place and ask them to do something similar.

When you are buying wheels only, we try to use the original boxes. If the original boxes are too damaged for use, we will use another box of the appropriate size. We then line the box with an extra layer of cardboard to protect the rim. The rim itself is also wrapped in a plastic bag, has a cloth cover, or a foam sheet over the face to protect it from cardboard chafing.

If you are buying wheels and tires, the tires are mounted on to the rims and high speed balanced. There is a sheet of foam placed over the wheel's face, and then two layers of cardboard. A single layer of cardboard is put on the back of the wheel and the entire assembly is held together with 4 polypropylene straps. Hardware is sealed in its own small box and securely attached to a strip of cardboard inside one of the wheel / tire assemblies.

thanks,
I contacted the local ups store, 7 miles from where the car is and they will package the wheels w/tires and ship back to tennessee for about $45 each. I will do this rather than try to carry them in the car.
