In Alberta, very friendly.
Classic insurance $10/thousand of appraised value. Classic plate: $30 for life with no renewal ever.
And you can even use an old plate from the model year of your car. IE: a 1966 mustang with a 1966 AB plate.
No safety inspection, no emissions, no taxes.
Just drive it.

What a coincidence, I’m going to get my historic plate tomorrow. Michigan roads should be graded -500, embarrassing they call Detroit the motor city. Iraq has better roads than Michigan.

Agreed, seems a little off...
We had emissions checks until Jesse "The Body" Ventura became governor in 1999.
He based his decision (i believe) that the emission stations were costing more than they were adding to the environment and shut them down.
I still see cars periodically and think - that shouldn't be on the road; that slides for now.
Maybe tides will change and we'll back at the stations getting smog-ed, checking that our cars have cats, and can only put oxygenated gas in them.
