Hotel Recomendation in Thunder Bay, ON?

My wife and I will be taking a trip (with the NSX) and first night is in the Thunder Bay area. Can anyone recommend a place to stay? Was hoping for relatively safe parking. I don't know the area or town.

Not much goes on in Thunder Bay ... from what I remember on a previous business trip, they will be mostly fishing in the summer. Chances are they will all refer to your NSX as a Corvette (I'll even bet on it)!

As far as a place to stay, most of the nicer places are close to the waterfront - however, they are mostly 'cabin' type accomodations.

I can't suggest anything specific, but with a population of well over 100,000 there are many choices in hotels. Google returns this:

BTW do you know how the city got it's name? From wikipedia:

Thunder Bay's name is the result of a referendum held on June 23, 1969 to determine the new name of the amalgamated Fort William and Port Arthur. Officials debated over the names to be put on the ballot, taking suggestions from residents including "Lakehead" and "The Lakehead". Predictably, the vote split between the two, and "Thunder Bay" was the victor. The final tally was "Thunder Bay" with 15,870, "Lakehead" with 15,302, and "The Lakehead" with 8,377.
