I just got back from running the crap out of my car while doing some real card cornering and slolom to test out my new sway bars. Under my hood, the master brake cylinder (I believe) made a nasty shuddering sound for a few seconds and then would go away until I would repeat the run over again. What is this? Is it bad? It sure sounds bad.

Obviously I don't know much about this area but I have a feeling that I am about to learn quickly.

I agree totally with Lud. The first time I heard the ABS recycling, I thought something was going to come flying out of the hood or fall to the ground. One of my mechanics told me what to listen for and sure enough, it was the ABS. More likely to hear it after hard driving, especially if you locked up to engage the ABS.

The NSX's system works off of a pressurized globe underneath the front hood. Whenever the ABS is engaged, the pressurized cylinder cycles the calipers. When the pressure gets too low, then the globe recycles, making a rather gnarly noise for 5-10 seconds. Hope this helps.

I hoped that it was the ABS making that noise. Thanks guys. You set my fears at ease. I can't believe I had never heard it before though. It just sounds so crude it is hard to believe something is not breaking in there.

Whatever. As long as it works!
