HONDA MOTOR CO. LTD. (Japan)

CHINA MOTORS Taiwan's China Motors assembles Honda vehicles.

FUJI SIA, the Fuji-Isuzu joint venture in the U.S., supplies Isuzu-based trucks to Honda.

GENERAL MOTORS Honda will supply 90,000 V-6 engines and automatic transmissions annually to GM for five years beginning in the fall of 2003. Honda will use GM's OnStar communication system in its Acura vehicles.

ISUZU Isuzu supplies Honda with vehicles in the U.S. and Japan. Honda and Isuzu are swapping vehicles in Thailand. Isuzu will supply diesel engines to Honda for use in Europe.

MAZDA Mazda supplies rear-wheel-drive parts to Honda, while Honda buys differential gears from Mazda.

MG ROVER MG Rover supplies about 5,000 2.0L diesel engines to Honda for use in Accord models made by Honda in the U.K.

MITSUBISHI A joint venture in the Philippines, Honda Cars Philippines Inc., is owned 47% by Honda, 23% by Mitsubishi Corp. and 15% each by local companies Ayala Corp. and Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. The venture builds 1.2L Civics. A wholly owned subsidiary, Honda Engine Mfg. Philippines Inc., builds engines for the cars. Malaysia's Oriental Assemblers Sdn. Bhd., 22% owned by Honda, assembles Honda, Mitsubishi and Peugeot vehicles. Honda is supplying driveshafts to Mitsubishi.

NISSAN Nissan and Toyota developed a nickel-metal hydride battery the two use to power electric vehicles. Honda buys the battery for its EVs, as well.

PEUGEOT Honda buys diesel engines from Peugeot for use in cars Honda assembles in Europe. Malaysia's Oriental Assemblers Sdn Bhd, 22% owned by Honda, assembles Honda, Mitsubishi and Peugeot vehicles.

OTHER Honda assembles and sells cars in Venezuela through Auto Agro CA. Accords are assembled at Mack de Venezuela CA, a joint venture between Auto Agro and U.S. truck-maker Mack Trucks Inc. Honda has a 13.5% stake in a joint venture in Taiwan called San Yang Industry Co. Ltd. building Honda passenger cars. P.T. Prospect Motor of Indonesia and Bangchan General Assembly in Thailand also build Honda cars. Honda holds a 25% stake in the New Zealand joint venture Honda New Zealand Ltd. where Accords are built. In Malaysia, Oriental Holding builds Civics and Accords. Honda has a Philippines joint venture, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. The operation produces Accord and Civic cars. Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. is a joint venture between Honda (60%) and Indian conglomerate Siel Ltd. (40%). The venture builds 1.3L-1.5L passenger cars. In Turkey, Honda owns 50% of Anadolu Honda, with the remaining half controlled by Anadolu Endustri Holding. Honda has a vehicle building joint venture in Malaysia with Kah Motor Co. Honda owns a stake in a motorcycle parts venture in Vietnam called Goshi-Thang Long Auto Parts Co. In 1997, Honda signed a joint venture with Guangzhou Auto Group Corp. The venture took over operations formerly held by a Peugeot-Guangzhou joint venture. Production of Accords began in 1999. Honda's Indian joint venture with Siel Ltd. makes the City passenger car at a plant in Noida. Honda holds 60% of the venture. Thailand Honda increased its share of its subsidiary in Thailand from 49% to 97% by buying out local shareholders during 1998.

I believe these are being used in the Saturn Ion Redline.

I don't think this is true any longer. This relationship was established in the 1990s, when Honda didn't have enough resources to develop a mid-size SUV and a minivan at the same time. So, Honda developed the minivan (the first generation Odyssey), which they provided to Isuzu for sale as the Isuzu Oasis, while Isuzu provided Honda with SUVs to sell (the Isuzu Rodeo to sell as the Honda Passport, and the Isuzu Trooper to sell as the Acura SLX). Now that Honda has developed and is selling its own mid-size SUVs (the Acura MDX and the Honda Pilot), their Isuzu-built offerings have been discontinued in the States. I don't know if Isuzu still builds cars for sale by Honda in Japan, though.
