Honda using Turbos

Yeah Turbos are something new for U.S. MARKET Hondas they are also talking about diesel for the Honda "truck"....But one thing is the same as past Hondas...small displacement.....oh well...let's hope the HSC has enough power.

Turbos are not new for Honda, they have used them in the past in F1 cars and production cars. and small displacement is no problem for honda, think 1000hp out of 1.5 l turbo charged engines.

U.S. sold production car with turbo?..

From what I can recall Honda has never sold a Turbo car in the U.S.

F1 is a whole differnt world.

Think ...TICK....TICK....TICK....BOOOM!!!!!

You cannot build a street car with 1.5L and 1000hp that is reliable.

everybody has their own definition of "reliable"..mine is as reliable as the stock honda civic 1.5L that is on the streets today.

sure , you go back and edit your original post. you initially said Honda was new to turbos. of course they never sold a USDM Honda with turbo. and as for the 1.5 producing 1k hp, that was just to show what Honda is capable of doing with that small of displacement.

I used bold type to show the Edit....this whole thread was started because of the announcement that honda is going to sell Turbos in the U.S. and Honda Turbos are new to the U.S. market.....I'm just staying in context...

Ditto. 2.3 4 cylinder-turbo =240 hp and 260 lbs.-ft of tq. So maybe the new V-10 will have something close to this like 480 hp and 520 lbs-ft of tq?

Honda was making 200hp in a 2.2L NA...yeah you get better tourqe but I don't think the New 4cyl Turbo # are that great.

I was just reading about this. There is a better, more in-depth article about the car here.http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=473190 It's basically the press release from Honda/Acura. I already love the interior. The exterior will have to grow on me a little bit.

I like the pics.
Is it just me or is the writing so small it's almost impossible to read.:frown:

While I'm a HUGE fan of the Prelude, I have to disagree. This new turbo engine is great in my opinion. I hope it's just a taste of things to come. It's already turbo'd from the factory. Just think what a reflash of the ECU from Hondata and a little more boost could do. And it's a 2.3 engine. (I'm assuming K series, but I haven't read anything official yet.) I'm sure we'll be seeing swaps of this engine in about 2-3 years.

The best thing about a turbo on a small motor is the TQ it makes, I have a evo with a 2.0l 4 banger making 420TQ to the wheels with meth injection on the stock turbo. And if Honda does a turbo car I am sure they will do it right and will have a huge after market for it.
