i know there are a few fellas on here with Honda RC51 motorbikes. lovely 1000cc V-Twins from about a decade ago built to battle the mighty Ducati V-Twins of the era and break the stranglehold on Superbike racing which the Italians outright owned for so long.

i picked one up for my brother recently, as he doesn't quite possess Ducati funds having opted for three children instead. a super clean 2004 Nicky Hayden edition. as i some times do, about annually, i took the GoPro along. here's what a day in May in sunny southern California looks like on one of Honda's best ever streetbikes...

Me and a friend use to swap bikes on occasion. {My R1 for his RC51} Fantastic bike. I bit heavier than my R1 but unlike the Ducati, maintenance free. I would gladly own one today. Man do they sound good.

yep, good bikes for sure. they were built heavy (frame, engine, swingarm) to handle Superbike spec power in racing trim.

a mate of mine has a 2000 RC51 with over 130,000 miles on it. bought it new, and does several track days a year, in addition to two north Georgia mountains trips annually also. it never breaks down and he rides it hard. and you can buy those bikes for $3500 to $5000 all day long. that's a low cost/big grin factor...
