Think I'm going to trade the G35C for something with a little more utility.

Here is my choice:

Trade the G and get a

(1) 2003 Pilot LX AWD w/ 36k miles and $6300 cash back
or
(2) Brand new (leftover) 2005 Pilot LX AWD and $0 money back.

Any thoughts on which one I should pick?

I thought that the next car was an 80's muscle car, neither one of the Pilots fit the bill. But for my $$, if those are the two options, go for the 05, you've got enough $$$$.

Go for the new 05. A. it's new and B. it will have the full warranty. The earlier Pilots had some tranny problems. As did the Odyssey and MDX.

Ironic, I just convinced myself back from the '05 to the '03.

Thoughts were -- take the $6300 and pay off rest of landscaping bill, insulate and heat garage mahal.

The 03 will have a bumper to bumper for at least another 12mos/12000 miles (CPO) and won't take another huge depreciation hit when I changed my mind (again) next year.

Checking out the vehicle tonight -- stay tuned...

I would go with the '03. The depreciation on new cars isn't worth it. And as long as you are within the factory warranty, you can buy an extended warranty from them for 7yr/100k. Thats what I did on the MDX.

That's true. I changed my mind. Go with the 03 and spend $1k on the Honda Care warranty.

Check again. Depreciation on a Pilot is a lot lower than you would think. I'm a current Pilot owner and considering getting a second as a daily driver for myself (wife drives current). I beleive in 06 they changed VSC to be accross the entire line. I think that's the only major change. Not sure if it applied to 05 as well. I know it's not 04 as that's what I have. But AWD with VSC does seem a little overkill.

Either way, you won't go wrong ... but getting rid of the G35 ... can't help you there. :)

Considering how many calls I take from you about your car "issues", get the '03, pocket the cash and then call me in 45 days about what you should trade the '03 for.

Cash is to be pocketed as suggested by legal counsel.

The '03 looked and drove great. Thanks to everyone for their advice.

Aside from having to take my '03 in for a couple of recall services, I haven't had any problems with it.
