Lucky you (and me). I think the 80's were the only decade since 1910 where the majority of adults & children could enjoy listening to the same songs on the radio without any fights. My mom loved Tom Petty, Foreigner, & Billy Idol's music even more than me or my sister, and she had no problems at all with my cassette mixes of The Cars, Van Halen, Billy Joel, Madonna, lol. Today's throwaway pop music: gag me with a spoon.
Much of the 60s and 70s stuff that became "oldies classics" in the 80s was really good. And much of the stuff produced in the 80s was just fine.
The Clash
Madonna
MJ...the weird one, not the athletic one.
Bono and U2
Bob and the Wailers
Huey and the News
