A question for all the home theatre fanatics. I am in the market for a projector and have the following choices offered to me.

BenQ 8700+ ($5800.00 CDN) New
Studio Experience 50HD ($5800.00 CDN) Demo with 50 hrs.

Which unit would you recommend. I'll most probably go with a 78x"139" Da Lite Cosmopolitan Electrol screen.

Thanks

Oh.. and let us know what you go with.

I'm currently on a two year old Sony VPL-HS10 (1080i LCD) on a 110" screen. It's been great so far.

I purchased the Studio Experience 50HD and a 119" Da-Lite Cinema Countour Fixed Screen. Once it's installed I'll post some comments and pics.

I recommend the Sanyo PLV-70. Studio Experience used to sell it as the HD20, but you can get a much better deal buying it under the Sanyo name.

The projector you mentioned has 1000 lumens of brightness. The PLV-70 has 2200 and let me tell you, brightness is like horsepower; you can't have too much.

The PLV-70 is an LCD projector that redefines the limits of LCD technology. No screen door effect, no rainbow from the spinning color wheel of DLP projectors, and projecting HDTV will knock your socks off!

I'm using it with a 133" 16 x 9 screen and it's fantastic.. very quiet too. It uses a UHP lamp that unlike metal halide holds its brightness throughout its 2000 hour life.

I think it can be had for around $4000. It's the most bang for the buck you can find without spending $20,000 or more.

Good Luck
