I was at Old Chicago pizza and all of a sudden the hostess starts walking around asking who owns the red Honda outside (I changed all my badges for those who don't know).
I know that she was talking about mine right away, since I parked in a slightly odd part of the lot so that I wouldn't get door dings (parallel against a curb instead of in a stall). I figured that she was just telling me that I had to move it. But then she said that someone just backed into it and took off. She said that someone saw the person do it and that there was no way that the driver DIDN'T know that he had hit it...

luckily he wrote down the plate and gave it to the hostess.

The manager and hostess was in such aw that they just hit such a nice car that I handled it so well.

update, so I just got a call from the police officer that came to the scene and it was the incorrect plate. There was no damage and that car had been there all night. So I guess I will have to file a hit and run!!! So that means a $500 accident deductible for me! PISSED OFF!

the damage was only to the front bumper cover but it will need to be completely replaced...

would this be a good time to update to the '02 front bumper? can I do it without the headlights and hood?

I'm really bitter right now...

Man, that sucks. I don't think you can just ugrade to the '02 front bumper w/o doing the lights or some kind of mod, because there are no turn signals in the 02 fender (they are integrated with the headlights).

But, since you have to get it fixed why not go for the German front bumper like Trond's http://www.nsxprime.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000481.html

The front piece runs $700 shipped to your door....
and looks SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know that it was only $700 shipped, but I know for sure that I DO NOT want FRP or a hard composite front bumper. Rock chips show up so fast.

what is GRP? anyone know?

and I'm thinking it may be time for a single scooped dali hood...

thanks,
Allen

GRP:
Glass-reinforced plastic, polymer or polyester
FRP:
Acronym for fiber glass-reinforced or fiber-reinforced plastic, polymer or polyester
Not much difference. You hit/bump it and it breaks.

thanks for the info.

if that is the case, then I think I'll have to pass, even if I really do like the look.

Allen,

This happened to me last month in front of the restaurant that I own! One of my customers tried to parallel park or get out of a the space & hit tmy rear bumper w/ enough force to put a 6 inch crack it, but didn't have the courtesy to own up to it. Anyway, my insurer, State Farm, has a separate flat deductible for hit & run of $200, while my regular collision deductible is $500-- I did not know this, but glad I asked. For me, it was a good time to upgrade to a 2002 rear valence while they where replacing the bumper. I also got a replica or Marga Hills skirts while I was at it & had my roof painted to match. All in all, I used this accident as an excuse to do paintwork that I was procrastinating about! Good luck!

Most of the pizza I've had away from Chicago that calls itself "Chicago Style" (a) isn't, and (b) sucks.

Joe, if you're ever in town, I'll treat you to the real thing. I guarantee you won't say "EEWWWWWWW."

Was this in Beaverton or Portland?

It's actually pretty good.

yeah, I found out later today that a hit and run has a $300 ded instead of my $500 collision.

I figure this is the time to get the single scooped hood that I've been wanting.

It may be a while before I get everything fixed, or at least until I move to San Diego in late January.

I had "real" Chicago pizza when I visited downtown several years ago. It was at some old basement restaurant, and it was "eewwwwwww."

Sounds like you went to one of the tourist traps. Like I said, I can take you to the places where you can have the best pizza in the world - not "some old basement restaurant".

And the best pizza is not downtown.
