Most recently I totally removed and cleaned the throttle body. In so doing, I played with the throttle cable adjustment and am not sure if the "free play" is within standards. Can any one explain how the free play is actually measured as it would seem to me that by applying a little more perpendicular pressure the distance would change.
Would a throttle cable that is too slack or alternatively too tight impact the idle?
Subsequent to cleaning the throttle body, the cold idle starts at about 2000rpm and periodically fluctuates to around 2400. After a while it idles at around 1500 and drops as low as 1200 when warm. The fluctuation in the idle only occurs when it is cold.
What steps do you suggest I do to resolve the cause?
Thanks
Marc
