High flow cats feedback?

Looking foward to you releasing it Brain. How much would it be around cost wise for the 1991-1994 version?

Hey Sonny,

I looking to offer them for under $500. They will include gaskets, stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers. Complete bolt on. We have one on the jig right now. The 95+ will come shortly after. I want to test fitment, sound, weight, and HP figures before offering this product to anyone. I should have mine completed by next week. I might put a teaser pic up a little later if anyone is interested

Interested. Please post pic when you get a chance. Thanks

do the 3.0 and 3.2 headers terminate in the same location? to re-phrase- can someone with 3.2 headers bolt-on a set of 3.0 cats and mufflers?

one more thing EMISSIONS.

I am in a state that requires emissions, I am running Comptech's High Flow cats. I passed emissions with flying colors. I will post my emission print out after I get off work.

Of course Emissions  They have passed california emissions on OBD-1 cars. I will need to verify if they will pass on an OBD-2 vehicle.

Here are the sneak preview of the Prospeed Hi-flow thunder-cats  These are the cores we will be using. I will have it on the jig and together by next week.

What is the longevity of these cats for those of us who want to replace the OEM ones for emission purposes under normal usage?

How do they compare to the Random Tech. ones in term of durability and controlling emission?

I have a few friends who have used these cat cores on their cars for the past 2 years with no problems. They orginally had test pipes and when they switched the foul smell went away and the noise level dropped as well  They also passed California emissions. The units are high quality cores. The metal substrate is superior to the ceramic substrate in terms of flow and in many cases they run cleaner in regards to emissions especially if your existing 17 year cat are clogged.

yes. i think

no. i believe 3.2 headers have 2 bolt flange and 3.0 headers have 3 bolt flange.
if you want to install factory 3.0 cats and muffler onto your 97+ headers then you need this: http://www.scienceofspeed.com/produ...s/NSX/ScienceofSpeed/factory_header_adaptors/

if prospeed wants you can have them make you a custom set, with header side having 2 bolt flange and exhaust side having 3 bolt flange.

this is the setup i have now on my custom staight pipes.

Is the oem metal substrate? Also what is considered high flow cats? One that does better than oem? I'm guessing less surface area (smaller the cat) the less restriction but at the same time less removal for emissions?

The OEM cat is ceramic substrate. The high flow cats will flow considerably more cfm's over the stock cats. The metal substrate has less restrictions but still does a good job of passing emissions from what we have seen on other vehicles. The way things are looking this coming week I could have the first set done by the end of the week. I will have pictures of course for everyone and possibly be on the dyno the following week after with dyno results.

I believe that OBD I cars can legally use aftermarket cats, but OBDII cars can only replace with OE cats. Aftermarket cats should pass emissions no problem, and metal substrate cats are far more resistant to clogging.
If you go to a smog station, the tech probably wont even know they are aftermarket cats, but if you stuck going to a referee station, it wil probably be flagged.
I had just bought some compact cats, but if Prospeed has a good price on these, it'll save me time of building them myself!

U are correct that OBD1 can use aftermarket cats.

OBD2 are not, esp. in CAli, but they should pass the sniffer.
