If the bulbs are hard to get to, you can swap ballasts too to get the same effect. You could also use your new spare slim ballasts to connect to the old bulbs to see. All those options should help you get to the root of the problem.Also, do you happen to have an external wiring harness direct to the battery on the kit? Or are you using the stock OEM wiring? If you don't have the wiring kit, that would be my next suggestion to wire it directly to the battery.
