When you buy an HID kit that is not NSX-specific ( a la SoS), what exactly is involved to get it to fit? What do you have to drill? Do you drill the actual car at all? The lights? Also, I know the SoS kit is reversible if you wanted to remove the HID lights. Are other kits this way also?

Thanks All,

When you install an aftermarket HID kit, there is no drilling at all to the car itself, the only part you may choose to drill is the black cap that covers the bulb to fit the wiring. Other than that there isnt' much drilling and evrything else pretty much plug and play meaning you buy a 9006 retrofit kit. Kits are pretty mch reversable.

Exactly, most all HID kits are reversable and require no drilling aside from the sealed dust caps. Unless you are planning to hard mount the ballast somewhere and drill the car to mount brackets or semething. Generally, kits are plug and play and it is finding room to mount the hardware (Ballast and seperate ignitor if it uses that type) that is the hard part. In my case, I learned from a friend how to run all the wires through the OEM headlight wiring harness. I had to buy the appropriate Honda terminators, open up the connectors, terminate my wires using a special Honda Crimper tool, and put eveything back. In may case, all the HID wiring runs though the OEM wiring as it if were stock. However, because of that, it is a little more involving to quicky return to stock as I would have to undo it all. I do have a special custom made 9006 wiring harness that I use if I ever need halogens quickly for some reason though.

ChrisK,

Can you tell me how you did the OEM wiring? As I am interested in HID's but want the wiring to be as stock as possible.
