just got around installing the HID 9006 kit.

since the kit was made for 9006 I could basically plug it in the the OEM 9006 bulb harness to power the ballast. and it turn power the hid bulb.

However the harness just wouldn't supply either enough power or ground to power up the HID kit. I even tried using a 30amp fuse.

I connected the kit direct to a 12v + - source and it lit up. so it isn't the fault of the kit.

I dont see anyway to power the kit up other than using a Relay to power the kit up. Anyone else have similar problem?

You need to wire the Ballast straight to the battery and use a relay to switch it on and off through the power on the stock headlight power. To wire it up alot cleaner and keep it OEM looking tap it off of the fuse box.

Had the same problem.
Try reversing your power/ground leads in the harness.
Some kits come with a adapter harness for this problem.

Try inverting the wires before you go thru the trouble of installing relays.

You are right. It works.

I tired to plug it in backward but I guess the contact still didn't touch. Right after I pick out the contact pins and reverse it an plug it in it works.

Cutting the hole in the cap was time consuming.

I did find an area the the 9006 base may not completely seal the projector housing so I opt to use the dust cap to ensure of sealing from humidity and dust.

I love HID. If possible I would install them on all my cars.

The Stock Projector housing give it a good cut off. Much better than my E34 BMW without projectors. (Big time Light spill)

yes your completely right, hid's without headlights with a projector beem seem to be completely useless. I had a set in my e36 m3 without the glass euro housings and they shined into the trees, after i replaced the lights with glass euro projector beam lenses they were a million times better, hid's are definitely best off with a projector.
