david
ps kidding about the hood its sold.but reverse dings?that is weird, think its possible you could have sucked a small stone up from undr the car and or it came in under the airdam and dinged you hood from the inside.how big is it?

impossible from hitting under the car...
it is small.. like ... a rock chip size..
but.. instead of like normal rock chip ( scratching out da paint ) it looks like a little acne on the hood..

Has the hood been repainted? If so, it may be that it was not painted correctly and the paint has started to "bubble".

The most likely cause of this is that the hood was shut while a tool was left under the hood somewhere. Or perhaps the hood prop-rod was not replaced in its latch and the hood was shut on it.

Was your car recently serviced? Maybe a technician is responsible for this ding.

I know exactly what it is. The paint chip was so deep that the hood oxidized (rusted) and the paint lifted off the hood. Deep chips are bad.

I think it's safe to say it's not rust, since the hood is aluminum.

Can you see a dent on the under-side of the
hood? If so, it's probably a tool mark or something as ChopsJazz suggested.

If there is nothing on the underside, it may be a paint problem.

from they layers of the paint I saw from the chip... I think the hood didnt be repainted... however its a 91.. what should I do with it ? leave it or ? repaint or get another red oem hood??
