I need some advice on a potential NSX I am looking at. It is a 01' Black/Black with 90k miles. It is well serviced and ready to go. It is in Scottsdale, AZ and I have been talking to the owner a lot now. Mark Basch did the last TB/WP work on it and it was less than 1,000 miles ago. He wants $36k for it which is a steal. Here is one catch. There is a mild accident where a quarter panel was dented and replaced. He has all the records for it and receipts. The price is a screaming deal considering the shape of the car. I am looking at this NSX now and a turbocharged Lotus Elise in Washington near Seattle. That is listing for $32k with low miles. Tough decision.....What do you guys think? The NSX has more equity in it I think but the Lotus would be more fun.

Sorry Bryan, I already went over this one with you.

Slightly off topic as per your exact request for input about bodily damage on a perspective purchase but ,

Have you considered just how HOT a black NSX will be in the Vegas sun ?

I have a black car. If it is parked for more than 15 minutes in direct sunlight in the summer it is an oven. The leather is so hot you have to run the A/C for 5 minutes before getting in the car our you will suffer 1st degree burns.

Not trying to bash the car you are looking at or black NSX's , but if I lived in your location , I would look a lot more favorably at a lighter color.

Black is pretty hot in Vegas. I have it on my current ride. I agree that it takes awhile to cool in the summer. VegasNSX's car is worse since his AC doesn't work at all now. Nice trade off in Las Vegas; turbo speed for no air conditioning. Ouch!

I think your asking the wrong ppl for advice. You might wanna get permission from the wife before you even look at an NSX or better yet post on prime...lol Every car you ALMOST got or found a great deal on, hasnt the wife always said no?

No it works just fine. It just can't keep up very well. I need to keep air moving over the condenser and it takes about 45 minutes to cool down the heat sink known as my car. If I pull it out of the garage or drive it on a long stretch of road I'm fine. If I leave it in an open parking lot and drive it stop n' go for 30 minutes, it's cooler to keep the windows open.

So it works as long as you are moving? Sounds like my old Mustang. The Turbo Elise sounds like a good car. I would have to ship it down here. It also has 2x,000 miles. That seems high for an Elise. Will that hurt the value of a Lotus? I can't even find a value for a Lotus in KBB.

Work must be slow for VegasNSX if he is posting here.

I see your point with the black car in Vegas. I had a black daily driver car here, and it was an oven. If the car is a garage queen, does it really matter? Also let be the first to inform you that the A/C in a Lotus Elise barely works in this climate. If it's hot and you’re sitting in traffic, the A/C will simply overheat and shut off.

Edit:

Ask SinCity NSX about the A/C in the Elise he had as a daily driver.

That is interesting to hear. It would be a track car/weekend car but I like my ac to work. I drove cars in the past with half-ass air conditioners and it drove me nuts. So much so that it ruined the drive of the car.

I saw your post in the thread I linked. I know it's a different ad that you saw, but check the VIN. That car I linked sold, and I suspect that the new owner fixed some of the damage and is reselling it. It looks like the same car - 2001, black/black, close to 90k miles, some previous damage, needed timing belt/waterpump (which the new owner did), no front lip, low price, etc.

Shit, that is the same car. I checked the VIN and you are right. Amazing how the car looks cleaner now and in better shape. The guy that owns it now said it had one accident and the prior owner said 2 accidents. That is already a bad sign.

Maybe slightly off topic but if you buy a Red car the black color is moot.

Just sayin'
