What a nice treat it is to notice that your post has magically vanished without the common courtesy of a PM or Email explaining why. Out of all the other forums i frequent, this one is one of my favorites and it is saddening to see crap like this. Accidents do happen as people may forget to add or not add one item from your lengthy list of RULES for posting in this forum. Unbelieveable

Can a MOD please answer the questions i have below?

Here's the Rules and my interpretation of them:

As of October 19, 2005 this is a LISTING ONLY forum. Make sure you provide good contact information in your listing so interested parties can contact you. Nobody can reply to your post, so they will need to be able to PM, e-mail, call or otherwise contact you.

Understood

Any ad may be edited or removed at any time for any reason without notice. If your ad is removed, DO NOT RELIST IT.

So does this mean we are assed out if you decide that you will delete a post due to a minor technicality and will be unable to repost it later on?

No NSX items - those belong in the NSX Marketplace

Understood

No "bumping" more than once every 30 days. Do not reply within 30 days for the last post in the thread for any reason; edit your previous message.

I see several posts that the user has bumped their post with an update rather than editing the first post. The examples i am referring to are NOT 30 day bumps but much shorter ie: 4 day bumps. Why are these not deleted?

Nothing illegal or "shady". Use eBay's Prohibited Items list as a general guideline. If you still aren't sure, ask before posting.

Understood

This forum is provided as a service and convenience to NSX Prime members. If it becomes flooded with people whose only purpose on this site is to sell non-NSX items, posting in this forum will be restricted to paid members.

The "rules" are for the benefit of all and they sometimes annoy the few. I to have had some problems caused by not reading the rules and have had posts not show up in the for sale forum but once I read and followed the rules I have had no problems since.

"Unbelieveable" indeed.

I would demand a refund of your membership fee!

Not only that, but the moderator who deleted your post should be held accountable - insist that your refund is deducted directly from the compensation he is receiving for donating his time and effort to run the site.

No need to be an ass. I have edited my first post to ask legitimate questions that I have about the process. I am well aware that they volunteer their time to run this site, but there is nothing wrong for asking for a little common courtesy.

Maybe if you sent in something more then $0 you can expect more then 0 or even better join me in being a Hero instead of a Zero.

Point taken. However, as stated word for word from the "new rules"

This forum is provided as a service and convenience to NSX Prime members. If it becomes flooded with people whose only purpose on this site is to sell non-NSX items, posting in this forum will be restricted to paid members.

I am a member. I'm a non-paying member but still a member and still allowed to post items for sale like everyone else. I dont flood the forums with selling things. I sold a total of maybe 5 products since being ONLY a member. My only purpose is NOT to sell non-NSX items. I really dont feel that im being out of line.

I recognize this is somewhat tongue-in-cheek but donation to the site is of course purely voluntary & the concept that a different std. is used for patrons vs. non-paying members is inaccurate.
I believe we are all treated equally <S>badly</S>

(The last comment was a joke before it's taken too seriously!)

i think most folks here (a) understand/agree with at least some of what you're saying (b) have already concluded they're willing to live with the rules as defined / enforced by lud/mods - and those who do not usually vote with their feet.

me? i'm pleased that lud has created such a great community site for nsx'ers to hang out a bit.

good luck with your issues.

i believe paying / non-paying are treated equally, as well.

Feel better now?

I don't know exactly what "assed out" means, but yes if your post is in violation it will be removed and you cannot relist. This is an NSX site - I'm not going to waste time manging non-NSX issues. The General Classified forum has become a bit of a pain and I'm thinking about just removing it altogether. It has nothing to do with the core focus of NSX Prime, it's just something a few folks requested and I thought I'd give it a try.

They hadn't been removed because I hadn't noticed them. I just took a look and nuked 4-5 ads such as you descrbied. You can use the "Report Bad Post" button (looks like:
report.gif
) on every post to report them in the future if your like - that will get faster results.

A bit, yes

I completely understand that, however whats the point of having the General Classified forum if you are "not going to waste time managing non-NSX issues"? Sounds like you feel the same way I do.

I have no desire to go through and pick out and report individual threads in violation to the half obeyed/enforced rules. I will offer help if needed though. I simply noticed a few and figured i'd mention it.

Im really not trying to be an ass, just had an issue and bought it up for clarification. Sorry if anyone took my goal out of context. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Since there was interest in it, I was hoping I could offer it as a service for people and that it wouldn't need a lot of attention / moderation. It doesn't appear to be working out that way.

It is a nice service and I am thankful for it. I just think the rules or enforcement of the rules need a bit of an overhaul (Simply a suggestion). Again, thanks for your time.

What exactly are your suggestions for overhauling the rules?

What were you trying to post and what was wrong with the post?

The ad was removed for a price bump 2 days after the original ad was posted.

I guess my response or suggestion is dependant on a few things that I'm not aware of like: Why do you have the rules set up this way? Maybe Is it a space issue that keeps you from allowing a repost if the ad is deleted. It could be a space issue with the bumps also. I personally like the bumps but i can see where people could get out of hand and bump their post every day.

I guess my suggestion would be to have someone to help you monitor and enforce the rules; a dedicated person(s) to the off-topic for sale forums. I know there are people on here who would volunteer to be a MOD or assist with the site. I would. With a dedicated person(s) to the off-topic sale forum, they could send someone a PM or email saying what was missing from their ad rather than deleting it. One could argue that they should have read the rules but sometimes people unintentionally leave something out of the ad. I dont feel that its fair to say that they can't repost their ad because of that if its an honest mistake. In my case, i didnt even notice the rules had changed untill after the ad got deleted, which i admit is purely my fault. If the Ad is to be "edited or removed at any time for any reason without notice" i think atleast a PM would be a kind gesture indicating why. As far as bumping goes, like i stated above, i can see how it could get out of hand and that is a tough one to argue. If someone bumps their post, the MOD can just delete the bump the 1st time as a warning and possibly delete the post the 2nd time they bump their post. With a dedicated person i just feel that it would add the extra value to the site and overall enhance the experience.

Of course this is all suggestion and in my own opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. Whether you decide to make the off topic for sale forum for paid members or not, i feel that an additional person assisting with the process will allow things to go smoother.

What you are proposing is labor and time intensive, even with help. I have volunteered to help out with this previously. NSX Prime oversees everything, except the NSX Marketplace (Which is run by myself and a few others). If the non NSX related for sale forums get out of hand (rules not be followed), then they it will most likely just go away, as previously mentioned.
Prime is a not for profit site and if we have to follow a few simple rules, then so be it.

Understood, well i guess there is not much choice in the matter if help has been offered and refused. Thanks anyway.

I don't agree with a system where donations are rewarded. If  I were to donate it would be in someone else's name or anonymously.

My name, forever will, have a registered user underneath it.

I bet $20 that is not the case.

And I would like to donate $5 of that back to Prime in SteveNY's name.
