I just got a new to me trailor. With the car in the trailor I have 3' from the anchor points to the D rings that are already instaled. Is that to short and what length tie down would be good? and what would be max lenth tie down? also the left rear tie down touches the exaustis this a problem ? should I ad some D rings a little wider to get the exaust clearence? In the rear the D rings line up with the exaust. If more info needed just ask I'll be happy to add. Thanks Guys and Galls

I would strongly recommend using wide high-quality tie down straps around each wheel that securely tie down to the D-rings. The tow strap is not sufficient to hold the car in place.

+1

Ryneen's advice is spot on ... the pro haulers use the same setup.

You may need to add some D rings to your trailer, always come in handy

Take a look at this setup from Macs, might do the trick

"Wheel Net Package w/ Idler & DH Ratchet (Medium)"

i recall the factory tie down points on my car being pretty robust, never had any problems hauling it on my 18' open trailer using standard 2" straps. but the front tow hook is NOT a tie down point, and you absolutely have to ditch those mickey mouse straps in your pics for real ratchet straps. what event are you doing next?

Every time I strap my car to my trailer this way I wonder if I'm screwing up my alignment, any thoughts on this all you Primers? It lets the suspension work which is good, but it yanks on the wheels..

thanks, the tie downs were just for view I will get Car tie downs don't worry about that. Is 3' enough between D ring and tie down? I would never tie my car down by toe strap thanks.
