I have a really cool pic of my wife from our wedding and a couple of good pics of my kids that I wanted to crop for my avatar. Not sure which one I want to use yet, my only problem is figuring out how to reduce and crop it so it is less then the required 14.7 KB. I have changed the size but the resolution is making the file size big (I think). Can anyone give me some direction?
Thanks in advance.

i have never tried this but there is a free download from MSFT called power toys that is supposed to help.

Once you have it put together the way you want it, you can email it to me and I'll try to get it down to size for you. You can also post it as an attachment here and see who gets to it first. :D

Irfanview is a nice powerful free image editor that should be able to do what you need.

Aside to willabeest -- your avatar is not particularly SFW, don'cha think?

There is an automatic resizer tool - only works with XP however so for previous windows platforms, a no-go.
It is a useful utility having it available from the "right click" menu.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Look for Image Resizer on the menu on the right

Thanks for the help guys, and I promise my avatar will be safe for work!
