Help with gearsgift knob...please???

I am new to the forum and just purchased a 1994 NSX today.

It has a 5 speed manual transmission.

I want to replace the factory leather gearshift knob with one I saw at Pep Boys. It is a generic knob that has a hex screw on the side to tighten it vs. screwing it onto the shaft.

Is this possible? If so, how can I remove the knob and get the leather boot back onto the new knob???

what style of knob are you looking to put on it? the set screw type are not recommended as they are a universal fitment and ususally cheaply made. the set screws do not hold well over time.

there are vendors that carry shift knobs that will thread directly onto the factory stalk. i personally just went by my local dealer and picked up a factory aluminum 5-speed knob for under $40.

The factory boot just pulls straight down. It's just a clip. It then will then unscrew.
