Help with factory alarm

I don't know how the factory alarm workson my 1993. I have the key fob with a I and a II on it. What I can tell you is if I unlock and close the door the alarm will go off when I open the door a short while later. If anyone could point me in the right direction on how the factory alarm works that would be great. I have search the forum but what I come up with is mostly alarm issues.

I have the key fob with a I and a II on it.

That doesn't sound like an OEM key fob. The original has an Arm/Disarm and EXT/Panic button.

Somewhere under your dash you will find a toggle switch (or comperable). The switch will control the ability to arm the system automatically when the door is closed, will chirp when the system arms. or chirp in a specific pattern to indicate that your system was activated while you were away.

The other button on the fob should be to open the trunk wirelessly.

I think the system is an aftermarket add on
