With all the things that fly around on the net, as well as preditors in chat rooms, my sister-in-law is looking for some internet protection for her kids. Wondering what you use and what you have done to help with this unfiltered window to the outside world.
To stem questions up front, my wife and I have already suggested:
-Moving the computer out of the child's room (where it currently is).
-Setting up a login account that only the mother has access to so the child cannot log in whenever they want.
-Having conversations with the child about what is, and is not appropriate.
-Setting verbal limits on what they can and cannot view.
Having said that, we still think a CyberSitter or a ContentProtect software package may be a good tool.
Can any of you folks lend me some advice. With no kids we have not faced this issue yet, and am VERY curious how the rest of you deal with this.
Thanks in advance.
Last tidbid of information: Child is female, age 12.
Thanks again.
