Sorry, not the receiver nut but the bolt attached to the SoS strut is threaded. When I compared the threads to the original, I see they are now concaved in.

I had all of the nuts on the other side loose, and I was turning the 12mm bolt attached to the ball joint and I had a lot of play (my wife was holding it up allowing for play) and then it seemed to loosen all of the sudden. Nothing I do now will get that bolt to tighten. The receiver nut is fine, I was able to screw the old strut in with no issue. Does anyone know what I can do for this?

Being that the original strut still screws in & tightens OK, I'd contact SOS.

Its sounds like either a wrong size or improperly cut thread on the strut stud.

It is a long shot, but Sears makes a Craftsman Rethreading Set. It is used to repair damaged bolts and nuts.

Super easy. Just run a die over the threads .
