I am in the midst of converting my auto nsx to jdm 5mt. I have a rps carbon twin billet clutch. The problem is that I can't get into gear because the clutch can't engage. The clutch pedal feels light and vibrates slightly when it is fully pressed. I bleed the system with a vacumn pump. What could be the problem. tia.

Sounds like you still have air in the system or a leak somewhere(bad master or slave cyl.) if the pedal is light. Also check to make sure the clutch pushrod length/pedal free play is set properly.

If you have a buddy who can help, have them depress the clutch pedal while you look under the car to see if the slave cylinder is actually moving the clutch fork. If it isn't moving much then you have a hydraulic issue(no pressure). Might want to also make sure the slave cyl. pushrod is actually seated in the correct spot on the clutch fork.

Thanks.

After more research on nsxprime, I found out that after installation of a new clutch on 1991 nsx, it must be initialize. I don't think my mechanic did this. Is this applicable for aftermarket clutch too? Do I have to initialize the RPS twin billet carbon clutch?

Your right. You have to initialize it. It's pretty simple. I ran into problem when I install my clutch a few months back. Didn't know cause it was my first time doing a clutch job on a NSX. Brought it Shad at DA to have it completed. Now I know...

No, the clutch is not initialized like a factory clutch.

You may want to try to adjust the master cylinder to adjust the slave's pick up point. However, this shouldn't be the issue as this clutch requires almost no adjustment when it is installed from our experience. Make sure that the pressure plate ring was installed, the discs were orientated in the correct direction, and the correct bearing with collar was used.

After careful verification, it is confirmed that there is no leakage or air in the clutch hydraulics.

We are going to drop the gearbox to check if the fork is seated properly or the clutch is installed properly.

I have lost the installation instruction for the RPS twin billet carbon clutch and can't find it on the internet. If any of you has a copy of it, please email to me at [email protected].

TIA

PS. Chris i believe that you have a detailed installation instruction for this clutch, could you email a copy to me?

Problem solved! Fork not seated properly and was jammed stuck.
Thanks for all your help.
