Help! New rotors will not fit 92 Hubs...

I have a set of new OEM brake rotors I got at the stealership and a set of new pads ready to go.

I had to drill out the set screws on all but 2 screws. No problem, I was able to back them out with the extractor.

So now I have the 14 year old rotors off the car and cleaned up.

Now the rotors just dont fit over the hub. It appears that there is a slight lip at the edge of the hub that prevents the rotor from sliding over them at first. I don't really want to take a rubber hammer to my brand new rotors to get them on.

Should I just sand down the inner edge of the rotor so that it clears the hub? The set screw holes are all identical, and the rotors are the same thickness and diameter. So I am not sure what the problem could be.

Please help! I need to get the NSX back on the road.

Are you sure you got the right rotors? The new rotors should easily go right on without any problems. You already did the hard part, which is removing the set screws.

What is the diameter of the hole on the new rotors vs the old? How "close" are the new rotors? Do you have an acura part number for them?

The difference is minimal. I am wondering if it could possible be just corrosion or the nickel-cadmium plating I put on the rotors.

Its very close, probably one to two millimeters enlargement in the diameter of the hole at most.

The next step is to clean up the hubs. They havent been touched since new. About 40k on the car, but 14 years of corrosion.

They look the same in every dimension. They just dont go over the hubs perfectly. They bind up.

The hub gets larger by a fraction right there at the farthest point out, and that lip is about an eighth of an inch wide right on the edge of the hub.

the hub can get rusty/dirty and the rotors fit with very close tolerance. Try cleaning it off with some steel wool or light sand paper.

Pictures to follow tonight of hubs.

The rear rotors are smaller than the front rotors. I measured them and the new rotors match the old rotors in every dimension. They fit on the hubs, but kinda wobble and wont seat flush with the hub.

Most likely the rust and plating combined may be the issue. As Drew said, clean the hub with wire brush and then steel wool or sand paper and see if that works. An occasional tap with rubber hammer will not hurt either.

Ok, a little dremel time, and some brush time with lots of acetone and they cleaned right up. I did a small grind on the rotors and now they fit just fine. Had to dremel down all 4 rotors.

The ground control coilovers are now installed. Finally these prodrive wheels are starting to look good. Dropped the car a good 3 inches. Have about 1/2 inch of clearence when pulling up the driveway.

Car drives and stops like a brand new car.

Can anyone recommend some eurathane bushings for this car?

Ok, all done...

A lowered black NSX is one of my favorites. Nice looking car.

At one point pulling up the driveway into the garage I can't get two fingers between the rocker panel and the ground. Its definitely as low as I can get and still be slightly drive-able. Looks good though.

Its almost as low as the big blue bitch.
