Hi everyone:
After following the FAQ and previous posts, I have disassembled my center console to get at the aspirator fan, which has been buzzing and didn't respond to either compressed air or vacuum. I have taken apart the assembly, cleaned every piece, and reassembled.
For some reason, the buzzing sound only is present when the fan assembly is right side up. If I hold the entire part upside down or sideways, it is silent. There is no more dirt or dust, and nothing looks out of round. I have pressed on the fan blades to see if they are bendable (which they aren't - I'm afraid I'll break them).
Since the part is a special order and lists for $301, does anyone have any quick suggestions? My car is in pieces in the garage, and since I generally stink at anything remotely mechanical, I was hoping I could complete this myself and have something to be proud of for a change. Maybe the part is just worn out - I have a 95 with 52k miles....but it doesn't seem like a part under a ton of stress.
Any help will be much appreciated!
Todd
