I am replacing my OEM with Cobalt Friction GT-Sport pads. On the rear - inner pad the OEM have a little knob that lines up with one of the slots on the piston.

The Cobalt Friction does not have a little knob on any on the rear pads (all four are the same). Will it be OK or is this going to be a problem?

bump - come on someone has to have replaced their rear pads with aftermarket pads. Did they have the little knob on the inner pad to fit in the slot like OEM?

My GT Sport pads had the little knobs. I don't think you need to worry about it--they will work fine without knobs.

Gt Sports were actually never offered for the rear. CF supplied AXXIS Ultimate for the rears to go with the GT Sport fronts. I just opened a set and they do have the dimple.

What rear pads do you have?

The rear pads are GT Sports also - this is the brand new compound.

Got the pads installed, bled the lines and bedded them in. Worked great - for the first 100 miles or so and now I have a really, really loud squeal coming from the rears. It sounds different from regular "normal" aggressive pad squeal. Lower pitch and much, much louder. Happens about 70-80% of the time when coming to a stop with light brake pressure. Sounds like a UPS truck stopping.

I took both calipers back off and put Brake Quiet on the outside of the shim (previously just between the inside of the shim and the pad) and it isn't any better. I know that it is coming from the rear because if you pull the e-brake a little while rolling it squeals.

BTW: I didn't have the rotors turned... they had 15,000 miles with the stock pads and seemed pretty smooth. Maybe I should do it since I am changing compounds - but on the other hand the fronts don't squeal at all.

Any suggestions on what to check next?

Yes, there are GT Sport pads available in the rear. I just looked at my empty boxes in the garage.

I have about 1000 miles on my pads and they don't squeal at all, but they have also been through a day at the track, so they are REALLY bedded in (distinct stripe of pad material visibly transferred to the disc).

For me, squealing brakes are a proud sign of high performance brake pads, so I haven't minded the sound in the past with my other cars. :)
