Help, Brake Lamp Out!

Hello everyone,

I got a problem, my brake lamp light on my dash keeps coming on. It started a few days ago. First my warning light would come on and the brake light in the back would not work. I would shut the car off and then restart and the brake warning light disappears and the brake lights work fine. Now the brake light warning stays on and my brake lamp does not work. Any ideas or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Danny,
Replace the bulb, it is easy to get to from the trunk. That should take care of it.

It will always go out when you turn off the car. Upon restart, it will not come on again until you step on the brake pedal. Like said above, put a bulb in it.

I don't get it...

Of course it'll disappear/go out when you turn off the car, there's no power to power up the brake lamp light.

You're saying that if you step on the brake pedal(after restart) then the light will come back on? How/why is this? I don't understand the logic behind this.

Also, how would a bulb(and aren't there more than one, so which one does he change?) fix this if the bulb is still working?

I'm also wondering, what if you restart(once or more than once) and the brake lamp light still stays on, even without stepping on the brake pedal? Then what?
