Hi. This is my first time with NSX Prime. I have 93 NSX. I want to replace my distressed and worn out leather seats. I have looked through BRIDE and SPARCO but was wondering if there was any way I could purchase/ get the recaro leather seats with orange inserts found in Japanese NSX type S. Please let me know if anyone knows any way to get those seats. THANKS!!!!!

Welcome to Prime.

You will find this to be a great place with a lot of resources and help.

Here are some tips:

1) Check out the FAQ'a before you post: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/faq.htm

There is a search window at the bottom right you can use. I would search for vendors too.

2) Use the search feature. I would try searching for leather repair and the seats you are looking for.

3) Think about replacing with used seats in better condition

4) Think about replacing the leather itself. I hear you can by OEM leather panels and a shop can replace them.

I hope this gets you pointed in the right direction. Also - many of us are part of the NSXCA where you get discounts, a quarterly magazine, and events. Check it out at http://www.nsxca.org

Welcome aboard!

I have the picture in my Avatar but they are not in my car.
I wish. I've been informed by a few on this list that they are over $2000 each from Japan.
They are in essence Recaro pole position seats that aren't carbon fiber like the original.
You could get a set and recover them at a interior shop. Still gonna rack up some dough.
Just seemed a little over the top for me. Kinda holding tight til' they introduce the next generation. Holding, waiting, and holding and waiting .... holding, waaaiting........hooooooooolding aaaaannnd

Brand New, the Recaro Carbon/Kevlar Leather/Suede seats from the
NSX-Type S.S-Zero are about $7000 each with the proprietary heavy duty electric seats rails.

The Type-R Version with the cloth upholstery is a little bit cheaper due to the material difference and the lack of a powered passenger seat rail and forward/reverse power controls.

The seat shells are unlike any other shell, even the Pole Positions. Some recaro seats may look somewhat similar, but the shell design is made specifically for the NSX.
The Type-S/S Zero Recaros are only available through Honda or if you can get a set from a Type-S/S Zero owner.

The design for the ergonomics while maintaining its track ready ability is amazing. If you read some of the recent European magazines with the 2002 Type-R reviews, several of the writers mentioned that the seats were the most comfortable sports car (track ready) seats they ever sat in.

We previously imported the first set of the NSX-Type S/Szero seats ever into North America for one of our customers. It was a slightly used set, and we sold the set for $8000.

If anyone is interested in getting a pair, please feel free to contact us.

$8000!!!!! For USED!!!!!
WOW!!! No Wonder they looked so nice. I better settle with the Sparco Torinos. The price of Japanese NSX type S seats make me wonder how much more expensive the car itself is compared to the regular NSX. Does anyone have any idea how much NSX type S costs in Japan????

MSRP for 2003 NSX Type-S base model is 10,357,000 yen. Same color for roof adds 200,000yen, Interior stick colors 90,000yen, Navigation system 550,000yen, EPS 400,000yen, airbags 100,000yen, custom color wheels 20,000yen, true CF console panel 800,000yen, totals about 13,000,000yen = $108,333 if 1$=120yen. Not sales tax included

I guess you haven't asked list prices on a pair of the stock seats for the North American NSX. List price on a pair of U.S. stock seats is around $9,000. For all I know, the price of new Japanese Type S seats might even be less than that of the U.S. seats...

FYI...list price for a pair of Japanese type-s seats is around 1,700,000 yen = $14,166 (if 1$ = 120yen). Shipping charge/custom duties not included... what a killer price.

There was another guy in the discussion looking for yellow inserts for his seats and it came across to me that it's actually quite a good idea for me to just order custom upholstery for my seats and just replace the leather covering. So, do you guys know any websites that I can custom order leather coverings???
