Hi everyone I have been lurking around the forum and I finally decided to make my first thread. I joined this forum because I'm looking forward to buying an NSX in the future.

The other day when I was throwing out my old school work I found an essay that I wrote in grade 8. This essay was about the NSX, and I received an A- on it lol. This essay probably doesn't do the NSX justice but this is a one page essay coming from a grade 8.

Anyways, one of my sister's friend gave me a ride in his NSX and it really caught my attention since not only was it a car that made people turn heads and move out of the way, but it also seem like a 'fun' car to drive. It was by far the lowest car I'd been in so I had trouble getting in and out.

So I'm hoping people on this forum can give me some info about models from specific years, such as transmission problems for some 91-92 models. Which models have permanent roofs, since all I see from the sale forum are T-tops.

Nice meeting you all!

Welcome.... and good and enjoy the adventure of looking for one.

You can search the Wiki for information.

Here are a couple links that may help

Production numbers
http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Production_Numbers

It will show you the numbers produced per year, color, AT or MT, Coupe or Targa.

Also changes by year:

The transmission problems you are asking about for the 91 to 92 NA1's would be the snap ring issue.
http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Transmission#.22Snap_Ring.22_Failure

Some cars are affected and some aren't. The thread explains the issue well.
I happen to own a 91 NA1 in the range. No issues... yet  I was told it was repaired, but I don't have documention to prove it.

Gear ratios for the transmissions

Welcom once again....

Welcome and happy searching. The early models thru 94 are all coupes. I have a 91 and I love it. They are great cars and they're all hard to get in and out of- lol  You gotta find an easy way in and out and there isn't one really .....but I imagine everyone here has figured out one that works for them - and that's why a lot of cars have seat bolster wear issues. Watch for that! Mine is in great shape but not everyone knows how to get in without rubbing. It's an "art".... and an awesome car! Good luck!

Hi and welcome to NSX Prime.

Its too bad we didn't see this post sooner as you could have come and participated in NSXPO 09 which was just held in Toronto! You could have met and seen owners with NSX's from all over the U.S. and Canada.

Check out the Wiki section of this site for informative information relating to all year NSX's.

Welcome!

Hope you find the car of your dreams.

I've had similar ambitions as a kid, and nothing is greater than achieving a lifelong objective.

All the best,

Soma K

If you have more questions or want to check something out on an actual car, give me a shout.

I live in the GTA it wont be hard to meet up.

Thanks. It'll be great to have someone experienced with these cars to tag along with me when I check out a car, that way I know what I'm getting and etc.

I still got a long way since I'm only in my third year of study but thankfully I don't have debt to pay off after I graduate since I'm paying my tuition as I go.

There are lots of NSX events in Toronto held by the NSX Club of Canada. Watch the Canadian section - and you should come by and say hi! We have several non-owner members (myself included lately)!
