Helio's crash at the Glen

I just got around to watching the Earl race at Watkins Glen last weekend. With 2 to go, Enge hooked wheels with Helio and they both did a 90 left right into the armco. Big hit. A maximum HANS loading crash for sure. But I never heard a report on either of their conditions. Anyone know about injuries? :frown: I'd bet lunch there had to be some serious hurt in there somewhere.

Commentators said Enge was caught up (blameless) but it's pretty clear to me that Enge's the wanker, as he got into Helio's left rear. While Helio was moving over, it appears to me that he was on the racing line and not blocking. Enge, OTOH, was in Helio's blind spot and therefore responsible for maintaining separation.

Anyway what's their condition?

Re: Whoa big fella

FYI Tony, you should have bought a bigger hammer, because your formula, lies, and backstabbing is not killing Champcar.
settle down and tell me how you really feel.

Hey I am just a supporter of the real series ran by real fans themselves. It is one thing of Tony to stick to his original formula
American cars
American drivers
American engines
American oval tracks
Low budget teams to make it easy on everyone.

He has broke EVERY single statement.

Then he has the balls to be arrogant about it as well.

I thought it was funny how he is quoted the he is starting a Grand Am team next year. When asked why, he replied that he never knew how expensive it was to have an IRL team!

Long Live Champcar!!
The Indycar series or should I say Danicar Series is on borrowed time. Just give Tony some more Rope, or shovel maybe.

I too have been a Champ Car supporter for 11 years, but just like waiting for a new NSX, nashing my teeth over TG got old about 5 years ago. So fine, if you’re still all hot, bothered and thumping your chest about an issue that the fans have no control over (it’s just business, as Penske, Andretti and Ganassa have so shamelessly demonstrated), take your little crusade and start your own thread, but don’t hijack my question about a great driver that chose to make a pile of money in the “wrong” series.

Re: Nevermind

On a Helio website, his quote:

"After the race in Watkins Glen I received a lot of emails from fans asking me about my health due to the accident I suffered after Tomas Enge's car shocked against mine last Sunday. It was a strong impact, when I collided in guard rail I was at 160 miles per hour but the protection walls cushioned the impact.

Thanks God I did not suffer no scratch, I did not have any injury. I can say that I am ready for the next and last race that happens in California, in one of the four tracks where I started on pole last year. "

Case closed.

Tony George is a sad story. You can thank him for taking something as great as the INDY 500 and turning it into a afterthought. Over time, his ridiculous antics will lead to his demise. Hopefully sooner than later. Freaking MORON

ahhh, I feel better now.

Yeah, Sorry to get side tracked Mate. It's a touchy subject, especially when you work in the industry. The main thing is the driver was OK.
