When driving on a rough road or even going over expansion joints, small bumps, etc (at night with the lights on) there is a noticeable headlight shake/vibration on both of my cars - the '92 seems a little worse but when i get HID's on that it will probably only exaggerate it more.
It seems like I've read a diagnostic on this problem here before but i searched to no avail. I wonder if there's something that just needs to be tightened.
Anyone else have this problem or am i just being really anal?
I've seen cars coming at me at night and I can see their headlight shaking - but they're 20 yr old LeSabre's... not exotics.

Hi MIke,

Page 23-183 in the on-line service manaul gives you adjustments for the "stopper bolts". Stopper A and B, if set too loose, or if the stopper caps are missing or worn, will cause the headlights to bob up and down on bumps. You should have no slop in the headlight assembly when it is raised. You can adjust the stoppers to take any slop out:).

Make adjustments a little at a time, so as to not end up with your headlights pointing too far down. Really may be a night project to test results immediately. LOL.................................

I have a similar problem...pretty noticeable after getting the HID's. I checked my stopper bolts and I swear everything looks tight. I guess I'll try and back them out a few spots and see if that helps.

If your issue occured after the HID install also check for loosness in the overall reassembly. These should not need adjustment very often, so if they were fine before the installation and shaky after, I would suspect something is loose in the assembly.

I had what seem to be alot shaking when I got my HID's...partially due to the fact HID's are more intense and you notice the shaking more and partly to the 4 bolts that holds down the whole headlight assembly which btw you can use to adjust the beam pattern.

Yeah, I'm not really sure if it's the HID's or not. I didn't have the car long enought to really get a feel for the stock lights...I think I used them like twice.

I've checked the assembly and haven't been able to find anything that's loose. I'm basically going to have to take it all apart and start from scratch again I suppose. I'll check those bump stops one more time first tho.

Larry brought this DIY to light (shameless pun  ) in that thread as well - thanks Hapa88! - I'm eager to try this stuff out tonight

I too notice a bit of shaking in my lights. I also have HID's in mine, but i'm not sure if that's what is causing it, since i put in the HID's 2 days after I bought the car.

Looks like I have something else to do this weekend. My antenna finally died on me. so i'll be shopping for an S2k antenna this weekend.

I noticed the same thing once I installed my HIDs. It was driving me bonkers, and I checked everything, but still a flicker when hitting small bumps. What I disovered is that the vibration is more from horizontal movement of the assembly when hitting bumps. Flip-up lights are naturally going to be more prone to vibration.

So, I bought some dynamat and covered the entire housing/frame around the lights. Took some time, but it is much much better.

My left light shakes and is more noticable after HID installation. Everything is tight. It is minor and more of an observation than an annoyance.
