Headlight motor problem?

When I went to turn on the headlights tonight, they didn't open up. The red warning light came on the dash. I tried them a couple of times before pulling over and finding the problem. Turns out the bra was hung up and holding them shut. I fixed it and they worked fine after that.

I was wondering if I had done any damage to the motor, or if there was a stall-out mechanicanism to prevent problems in a sitiuation like this.
