As a former FD owner (93 CYM R1) I got involved in a lot of projects on that car. A LOT of projects...

The easiest was to bump up the wattage to 55w, that seemed to work without melting (at least not melting too much). Anything more than that melted a lot. (BTW: The JDM and I think CDN market used glass covers on the headlights...not plastic, so you might keep that in mind too.)

HIDs will work too.

Fixed light systems are on the market and seem to work well, but they are expensive!

As for your question: I don't know if they will work....

The NSX uses projector lights, they take up a lot of space. So you will need the entire assembly, not just the "lens". I can't remember if the FD has enough space for all of this...I don't think so...everything was really packed in there (depends on how stock your car is/was...less stock = more room).

At least one guy (Jeff Witzer) spent manys thousands on trying to make a kit and finally gave up.... http://mailer.uwf.edu/Lists/wa.exe?A2=ind9802&L=fl-rx7&F=&S=&P=141

Despite all of that: even the NSX's are being upgraded to HIDs. So I'm not sure what you are trying to gain now that HIDs are cheap and available.

Personally: Try out retrofitting your car with HIDs and see if you like that first....engineering new light assemblies is a lot of work (see above link).
