Headlight/Hood interference

My hood was slightly higher on the passenger side of the car (as compared to the drivers side). I found a rubber stopper, aft and towards the outside of the headlight bucket, that turned...which allowed the hood to "seat".

Two days later, after a night drive, I noticed a scratch on the very back corner of the passenger side headlight. Turns out the headlight bucket just touched the hood when in use.

I'm looking for a simple solution/adjustment (bucket up/down, headlight bucket cover adjust left/right, hood adjustment, etc...) before I go into major hood reallinement at a body shop.
THANKS

It probably needs the hood adjusted. It doesn't say much in the service manual (page 20-51 in the '91 manual) about how to do this. It has to be just far enough back to avoid hitting the headlight covers, but not so far back that the rear edge is out of alignment with the adjacent fenders. Aligning the hood shouldn't be a major procedure at a body shop, though, if they know what they're doing. pbassjo did this on my car at NSXPO 2004, because I was having the same problem (hood hitting the headlight covers). It took him a little while (maybe 45 minutes) to get it just right.

The headlight covers are slotted so can move fore & aft - determine which has to be moved, the covers or the hood by checking the hood alignment (to fenders & bumper) first then adjust the headlight covers as necessary. Pop the headlights up to get access to all 4 screws.

On my cursory look, I only saw one screw that seemed to be holding the cover to the bucket. Any photos or expolded views from the repair book?

There are 4 - 2 on each side of the shell - just pop them up & you'll see them
I found them...removed the screws but there was no (apparent)slot/adjustment in my cover...1991.
Its like a full face motorcycle helmet...one big piece encompassing the whole headlight lens and slipping over he screws to the back...but I'll look again

If you just loosen the screws, you should be able to move the cover back & forward. No need to remove it.
Yes, the slot in the plastic headlight covers is indeed just that - a slot that allows some play in where the covers sit. So you loosen the screws, position the covers where you want front to back, and then tighten them.

In my case, the covers were full forward, and the hood was still interfering, until Joe adjusted it.

DONE!
Thanks...it worked!
