Here is a comparison at the track. In October of 1999 I ran completely stock including Yoko A022’s. The following October I ran with CT Intake, Headers, Exhaust, and no cats (stock tires). The weather on both days was comparable. Through the 1/8th mile there was virtually no difference. By the ¼ mile, the modifications began to take affect, albeit only slightly. By the end of the ¼ mile I had picked up .1 seconds and 4 mph. This tells me that I traded low end torque for high end horsepower. This may indicate that 4.55 gears will have a significant affect. However, what I don’t know is what each modification individually contributed or took away. My gut feel is that the intake provided a ram air affect at sppeds above 85 mph and may have, by itself, provided the better top end performance. Keep in mind that static dyno tests do not show this ram air affect. Also, I wonder if the Intake alone would have provided greater performance all around (i.e. retain low end torque and increase high end power).
Distance-----Stock-----------I/H/E
60’----------1.91-------------1.96
330’---------5.39-------------5.45
1/8----------8.26 @ 84.38-----8.30 @ 85.73
1000’-------10.75------------10.75
¼-----------12.87 @104.55----12.84 @108.86
