Hi everybody,
I just joined the "club" and I have been searching your forums like mad in order to understand a bit better the exhaust/headers/cats/oxigen sensors theory..... with not much success !
I have a 3.0 NSX totally stock and going perfect, nevertheless I would like some more HP...
I have had experience in the past with aftermarket exhaust/headers etc. (porsche/alfa) but in all cases the performance increase was just not there !!
In the case of the NSX the early headers configuration is far from performance designed and therefore it makes me think some kind of improvement is possible.
The exhaust should be OK in terms of performance (I do not look for noise!) but everybody seems to agree that is the combination of Headers/exhaust that makes the difference (I don't see the technical reasons).
Furthermore I read here and there of possible problems with the oxigen sensors and the "check engine" light to come on with no clear explanation on how to avoid that if not hoping in the self-healing properties of NSXes.
Trying to put it in straight questions, is there any clear, technical answer to the following question?:
- Which aftermarket Headers will fit and give performance enancement with no oxigen sensors problems?
- Is the OEM exhaust really too heavy and "congested" if you don't care about sound improvements ?
- Which aftermarket exhaust will be giving a good performance increase staying relatively quiet ? (I am not looking for sound)
- Which combination of both is recomended, again bearing in mind that I look mainly for performance and not for sound increase
Thanks a lot in advance to anybody that can help me to clarify this complicated issue.
Looking forward to read you ....
Francesco
