Having brake problem

My brake pedal is acting strange. About every 10th brake application, the pedal travels much farther down (1 to 2 inches). Also, when sitting at a trafic light, if I keep constant pressure on the brake pedal it starts to go down farther even though I do not change the pressure. Brake fluid is halfway between max. and min. I could not find and leaks but it is not full. Brake fluid was changed 14K miles ago.
 
Sounds like a leaking master cylinder. If your car is a 93 or earlier it's almost certainly this part. Have it fixed soon because it's unsafe to drive this way.

Master cylinder was replaced 14K miles ago when fluid was changed. No brake fluid leaks can be seen around master cylinder, lines or ABS equipment in front "trunk". Also no fluid leaks can be detected around wheels or calipers.
 
A sinking brake pedal is a classic symptom of a leaking master cylinder. The leak is usually internal so is not visible to outside inspection. Perhaps you got a bum part; or perhaps the unit has failed unusually early. How long ago was this 14K brake service?

Done 5-21-2001. My '94 is going to Crown Acura (blatant plug) on Friday.

Your master cylinder should be fine as it's only one year old. I'm out of ideas ..... please post your results when you get the car back.
 
Soichiro was correct. The master cylinder has and internal leak. The sinking pedal is a "warning mechanism" letting the driver know the brake system is going into fail safe mode activating only the diagonal corners of the braking system (left front & right rear or right front & left rear). The master cylinder was not replaced 14K ago, it was the clutch master cylinder. My error.
 
I currently have this same condition. Bad timing financially.
What's the price tag on the master cylinder part (assuming of course it needs replacing)?

Joel, even though it may be a costly financial fix given your specific situation, I do think when it comes to addressing essentials like braking and engine systems, you should not wait till the "right time." These are serious issues -- serious enough to alter the outcome in, God forbid, a life-or-death situation. As a fellow NSXPrime member, I urge you to get the situation resolved as quickly as possible -- even it means borrowing from a friend/relative, or taking a loan out, etc. It's just too risky not to do it.
