Hi

I've been thinking and it scared me a bit :)

I saw the movie Top Gun back in 1986 where Tom Cruise had a Kawasaki GPZ900R (or a 1100).

First bike I bought was a Kawasaki GPZ600R. Picture below.

Then ten years after Top Gun I watched True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.

In that movie Arnold's daughter's boyfriend had a Kawasaki ZXR750. Well I bought a 94' ZXR 750 in the same colours. I have attached a picture of the bike here.

On the picture I have attached you see the car I "had" to buy after watching that movie. The Gen1 Honda CRX which Jamie Lee Curtis drove in that movie.

The only vehicle from that movie I did not buy was the Harrier Arnold had. But I am pretty sure that if I find one on Ebay I would get all weak again :)

On the right on the picture you see yet another car that I bought.. It was a Mazda 323F with pop up headlights...yes you'r right..I had it in me all the time..the fetish for pop up headlights :)

I saw Pulp Fiction in 1994 and now I have a Sebring Silver NSX as Mr.Wolf.

I watched Ghostrider and his cool black Suzuki GSX-R1000 and now I have ordered a black GSX-R1000 2002 racebike.

The first car I had was a Simca 1100, but I got that one from my mum which does not have the same taste in movies as me.

I can not explain with movies why I bought a Prelude 2.2 VTEC, but I am sure that in the back of my head I knew the NSX had VTEC. If only the 1994 Prelude had popuplights my obsession would have stopped there...yeah sure. :)

I bought a Kawasaki ZX9R after the ZXR750. I can't explain that with movies either. But it was green as the bike in True Lies. I missed my ZXR750 eversince I sold it and now there may be a ZXR400(in the same colours) in the future for me when the ZX9R sells.

Well that is my story. I have to stop watching movies because it seems I am influenced quite easy by them. I am a bit scared since I think that the Starship Enterprise looks cool and the Millenium Falcon is not that bad.. :)

I am sure that a shrink would have a lot to work with if he got hold of me :)

Regards

James Bond = Aston Martin Vanquish

Would buy one if I ever can afford one.

Other than that, never

I don't think so cause I watched Knight Rider as a kid and always thought Trans Am's were POS.

I have to admit that after watching the Italian Job I wanted a Mini Cooper pretty bad.

here here to that one. I remember I was in the market for a daily driver at the time. It actually came down to the Scion or the Mini... the tC won purely due to price. I wasn't able to get the 'basic' mini.. of course..

Main influence is Will Smith from Bad Boys though I didn't buy the Porsche. I like his attitude. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

35 years ago, my Dad bought a Dodge Challenger after seeing the movie "Vanishing Point." His Challenger set the foundation for me to become a life-long automobile enthusiast.

VTEC, not boost...

007 got me to take a closer look at the Aston Martin DB5 & Lotus Esprit, of which both are amongst my favorite all-time autos.

Same goes for Miami Vice & the Ferrari Testarossa/512TR, another of my fav's!

Alot of it has to do w/ personification & emulation... do you like seeing yourself as the character/situation, more importantingly- do you want to be the character/situation!

I never wanted to be "The Bandit" (Smokey & The Bandit), 'Michael Knight' (Knight Ryder), 'Bo & Luke' (Dukes Of Hazzard), or any character in F&F I -or- II, etc'...

"Money Ain't A Thang" video, The Rock, and Goldeneye were special to me because of the 355 F1... well until the 360 Modena came out!

After seeing A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, I lusted after all Lamborghinis, I still love the original Countach.

Bullit, Had me wating a Mustang Fastback.
007 Had me wishing for an Aston Martin Volante MY 78
Gumball Rally/Canon ball run influenced my first car purchase. 1973 Camaro LT (Rust Bucket) but it was mine and the girls liked it, except the exhaust smell.

Looks like I stand corrected.... Again Autophile..
I could have sworn it was the Lp400/500 especially since everything about the Orange Lambos, suggest towards that Movie...

Oh well, It still made me want a Lambo.

It's the opposite for me...

My choice in cars tends to influence what movies I buy!

I loved Pulp Fiction, but I only bought it after I owned my first NSX.

I was a Porsche man for many years (until I discovered the NSX:wink: ), so I watched and then bought the movie No Mans Land (with Charlie Sheen) as it was about a porsche stealing racket. Crap movie actually but lots of porsches in it...

Another movie was Aganst All Odds, another crap movie with a good Ferrari vs Porsche street race scene...

I only buy the BMI movies with NSX's in them...

I guess you shouldn't watch Dumb or Dumber either.

The movies didn't influence my cars, but I grew up watching Dirty Harry, First Blood and Lethal Weapon. So I pity the fool that trys to break into my house!

Gone in 60 seconds made me yearn for a few cars but "there can only be one"

I love the Gone in 60 seconds Mustang. But for the price for a rebuild one .. that'll get me one NSX as a daily driver and one supercharged NSX for the track.
